~~Caroline~~

"Well well" said Caroline with a little smile. "Looks like we have some company"

Maxime drew the old white curtain of lace back to see Yassin and Karen coming. He could see Yassin push the brown wooden gate open and Karen cautiously following him.

"Aw how cute, they are holding hands" Caroline laughed and prepared herself to welcome them.

"I suppose he is the guy who called yesterday right?" Maxime asked leaning on the wall.

"Yeah, I didn't know he was hot”

"How dare can you say that in front of me, your husband?" replied Maxime half serious, half playfull.

She turned to look at him and laughed amused too. She thought inwardly that he was better looking than Maxime but didn't say a word.

“Oh please don’t tell me you’re jealous, are you?” she said, playfully kicking him with her elbow.

"wel

l if I’m not you should worry” he replied brutally kissing her.

"Just shut up and just play your role." she said giggling" They're going to ring any second now”

As she finished her sentence, a clear sound announced their arrival. Caroline ran a hand through her hair and adjusted her dress.

"Just stay behind Maxime and wait until I make the presentations"

 "h

ello hello, welcome! Thank you for coming" she said excitedly.

She had waited for this moment for so long now and prepared every single word, sentence she would say. Like an actress, her show must be perfect.

Yassin nodded "You're welcome. We are glad to meet you too. My name is Yassin and this is Karen, your niece I think"

"Caroline Auberville here" she smiled warmly.

Yassin moved a little and Karen could now fully see her aunt. Caroline was a tall woman with blond long messy hair and little chocolate brown eyes. She was wearing a short yellow summer dress which gave her an innocent and sweet appearance.

"Aw come in here Karen" Caroline said before hugging her tightly "I really am the happiest aunt in the word, really"

"Thank you" simply answered Karen and hugged her back.

A little tear escaped from Karen’s eye but she brushed it quickly. Looking up, she saw a man standing just behind Caroline. She froze and took a step back, lowering her gaze.

Caroline looked behind her, surprised of !karen’s behaviour, "oh sorry this Maxime my husband. Maxime, this is Yassin and Karen my niece I told you about days ago"

"Nice to meet you"

"Likewise" replied Yassin shaking Maxime's hand. Something in him was strange, was it because he had multiple scars on his hand or the way he was looking at Karen? He wished he was overprotective and didn’t see anything.

Caroline exclaimed. "Oh how rude am I! Come in come in" she entered followed by Yassin and Karen.

Maxime closed the door and joined them in the living room which was simply decorated. A huge chimney was imposing its presence and fire was dancing through the window of the chimney. The wooden floor was screaming loudly as the little group made its way to the living room. It was old, weary and giving an old atmosphere to the house.
