"Okay, you're on in five, you ready?" A young man in a black t-shirt with the word 'CREW' on the back of it asks me. He seems nervous so I assume that he's new to the job.
"Yeah." I smile at him brightly to reassure him.
He nods and leaves my dressing room, closing the door behind him. I check over myself in the mirror once again, admiring the flawless makeup that the makeup artist applied to my face.
"Here goes nothing." I take a deep breath and leave the dressing room, making my way to the side of the fake set.
I watch the presenter having her makeup touched up by a makeup artist with a big fluffy brush and her platinum blonde hair being sprayed with hairspray and being flicked in all directions. I can't believe how flawless she looks in real life, I have admired her for so many years and now I'm about to be interviewed by her. This is so surreal. The people back away from her as a loud man shouts that we will be on air in ten seconds. The presenter gets herself together before grinning widely.
"On in three, two..." The man trails off and silently mouths the word one whilst pointing at the presenter.
The audience begin cheering and clapping and the presenter acknowledges it with a smile until it simmers down.
"Welcome back!" She speaks over the last few dying down claps. "Now, we have a very special guest with us tonight. She has three awards and has recently been nominated for best newcomer at the Soap Awards! So please, give a warm welcoming for my next guest, the very beautiful, Alexa Edwards!" The woman introduces me and the audience begin cheering and clapping again.
I take a deep breath and put on a big smile before walking onto the fake set and greeting the interviewer, before sitting down on the comfy, bright yellow chair.
"Alexa!" The interviewer smiles as the clapping finally stops. "You've been on quite the journey." She grins.
"Yeah, I guess I have." I breathe out with a smile.
"I can imagine it being quite overwhelming, you've achieved so much in the past year."
"Yeah, it's been really overwhelming and unexpected. I mean, a little over a year ago, I got the role and I was only expecting a few lines, and now..."
"Now you're a big star." She grins, making me laugh.
"Well, I don't know about that." I shake my head.
"You are! This is what we are so in love with, your humble attitude towards everything, it's charming." She smiles, making me blush a little. "Anyways, let's talk a little about your life before you were cast on the show. How did you manage to get by?"
"Well, I really was quite poor before all of this. I had a job at a small coffee shop and I went to as many auditions as possible but it was still hard to get by, London is expensive." I joke. "But somehow I managed, then I was cast on the show." I stick to the contract of my previous job, I can't mention that I was hired.
"Now, we saw you in the press quite a lot because of your association with a specific person..." She hints and my stomach flips win nerves.
"Yeah." I laugh nervously.
"Brad Simpson. How did that come about? How did you guys meet?" She asks me.
"Uh well, our paths just seemed to cross somehow. He got the wrong number and we just started talking and eventually things just...escalated." I awkwardly laugh.
"It was also well known that you guys broke up for a while, why was that?" She asks, flashing me her brilliant smile to distract me from the personal questions being asked.
