Chapter 18.

Endellion

Seeing the toddlers warmed my heart. They were such adorable human beings and had the most innocent looks on their faces.

When I'd first entered the nursery, I was met by the playful giggling and squealing of the kids. The moment I had heard their angelic voices, my worries ceased and the negative thought from earlier almost vanished.

Almost, that is.

The domineering presence beside me was negatively hard to miss. Luther's presence itself made me feel pretty horrible.

I had to admit that I did fuck up a whole lot. Luther had already despised my being to begin with, now I probably worsened the situation with my lack of...whatever.

"Ms. Dylan! P-play with me!" called out Sarah.

Sarah's a sweet toddler who was about four years old. She was absolutely adorable with her light brown hair and golden brown eyes. She was, by no doubt, my favorite.

"Sure sweetie," I smiled.

Luther and I were currently in a small classroom full of children. Apparently, this nursery took in trisomic patients from the ages of two up to eleven, which I found amazing considering a nursery was usually meant for younger children.

The moment the two of us stepped inside the classroom, the children hid away behind chairs and toys. Then when I'd smiled and introduced us, they slowly began easing up and introducing themselves and they were simply put, perfect.

What surprised me the most was that they seemed to enjoy Luther's company more than mine. They'd warmed up to him way faster than to me and what was even more surprising was how Luther seemed to have a soft spot for the children as he loosened up his usual glare.

At that thought, my eyes darted towards where Luther sat with children all over his lap and around him giggling and pointing at his tattoos while gaping in amazement.

I couldn't help the small chuckle that came out of my mouth when I saw Luther bite his lip to maintain from cursing as the children played with his eyebrow piercings.

"Why you have those on face?" stuttered a toddler cutely fussing over Luther's face.

He looked down at the small girl who questioned him and shrugged. "'Cuz they're cool. Ain't they?"

The toddlers giggled and continued fussing over Luther.

With a small smile present on my face, I turned to look at Sarah who was had taken out what looked like a kids makeup kit. I gasped. "Wow Sarah! These are so pretty! Are they yours?" I exasperated, grinning wildly.

"Yesh!" she giggled. "Come teacher! I put for y-you!" She raised her tiny chubby arms towards me and pulled me down.

"Alright, alright!" I laughed, moving into a sitting position as she called out.

"Guys! Teacher have makeover now! Help!" she babbled as the other toddlers who were gathered around Luther turned around.

A couple of girls squealed and got up from on top of Luther rushing over to us.

"I'll do her hair!" called out a ten year old girl, Ellen.

"I'll help with makeup!"

"Me too!"
