Chapter 25 part 2

Luther

Max's voice was loud and clear, devoid of any of the emotions his eyes gave out. "The additional genetic material in chromosome twenty-one is what causes trisomy to occur," he continued on speaking, but I couldn't seem to be able to focus on what he was saying.

After all, William Cage's presence was taking its toll on me. All I could think about was getting him back for what he's done all those years ago.

The grudge I held against him wasn't going to be forgotten until I've had him on his knees, begging for forgiveness before me and my friends.

My attention was brought back when I heard the crowd laughing loudly. Looking up, my eyes glanced over to my side to see Endellion and Cecily guffawing loudly while staring ahead. I looked down towards the stage, only to see the video of the children jumping on Matt and I and fake-wrestling us. This part of the presentation was not needed, as it had nothing to do with science, however, Endellion insisted on putting it out, claiming that 'a little bit of cuteness would never hurt.' Her words, not mine.

My orbs glazed over in anger as I was in no mood for anything. Except for beating William senseless, that was.

Once my focus was regained, I glanced briefly onto the screen again, tuning out Max's voice as he spoke fluently and diligently.

This time it was the video of us eating in the amusement park with the children, I was chatting with Eric, commenting on how 'yucky Endellion and Teaspoon were'.

Although I would never admit it, I missed the children a lot. They brought back happy memories of my childhood, back before everything was shattered into a million unfixable pieces.

Looking back at William, I noticed that he was staring thoughtfully at the screen before him, seeming to be captivated by the video.

I wondered what he was so enthralled by.

Weirdly enough, his expression changed to one of deep sorrow. He was focusing on a spot on the screen projector which I couldn't clearly see, considering my seating.

William Cage's face twisted ever-so-little, he gazed tempestuously at something in the video.

It was in that moment that a smirk grew on my face.

It seemed as though William Cage was not the so-called unswerving man rumors made him to be.

He had a weakness. And I was going to find out exactly what it was.

"That was the epitome of fucking hell," Julie growled throwing himself on my bed.

The science fair was finally over, and for that I was glad. The past few hours were torturous- simply looking at that despicable man made me furious beyond belief.

Max had not won the first place in the competition, but he didn't seem to pay much mind to it as that had the least significance at the time being.

The six of us were gathered in my dorm room, each of us yielding a harsh expression on our faces.

Cliffie groaned, curling into a small ball on the ground, "Tell me about it," he sighed, "I don't feel good right not guys...I feel like shit."

Cobra sat down on the ground next to Cliffie and wrapped his arm around his shoulder, breathing heavily.

Max nodded from the top bunk bed, "I know little guy, I think we can all agree on the fact that we feel angry and hurt."

"I'm not hurt," I growled, scowling, "I will fuck this guy up. I'll shred him to pieces and make him beg for mercy. He won't get away with what he's done." Words came out of my mouth one after the other, my hatred spewing within them.

Matt leaned back in his beanbag, thoughtfully looking up, "Guys, I noticed something weird," he began, and I already knew where he was headed, because my thoughts were running on the same path his were. "When the videos in Max's presentation were playing, William's expression seemed to change big-time."

"I thought I was the only one who noticed that!" Max said, straightening up.

"I noticed, too." Cobra muttered his eyes red with anger.

Matt nodded fervently, "It was almost as though..." he took in a breath.

"He has a weakness." Both Matt and I spoke in unison.

The room fell silent until I spoke once again.

"I think the video reminded him of something," I worded my previous thoughts out. "He looked really devastated so I think the fucker was reminded of something precious towards him."

"Or..." Cliffie said, biting his lip in thought, "someone."

"Someone?" Julie inquired.

"The videos, I mean." Cliffie sat up, and looked at us with wide eyes and realization. "What if they reminded him of someone he loved?'

Cliffie's words hit me like a ton of bricks. Never would I have guessed something as clear as that. He must've had a family. A thought came to mind.

"A loved one, huh." I smirked, a thought arising in my mind. "Hm, we'll just have to figure out if the bastard is married and has kids."

They all nodded in approval, but then Matt asked, "But, what are we gonna do with that information?"

"A little threatening will never harm, now would it?" I answered rhetorically, my mind coming up with ideas on how we'd use William Cage's family to get to him. "After all, an eye for a fucking eye, ain't that true, guys?"

They all nodded.
