Chapter 27.

Luther

"You're dating Cecily," my eyebrow arched in amusement when the statement left my tongue.

The raven haired boy glared at me and sighed in annoyance, flopping down onto the bean bag before me.

News has been floating around the school the past couple of days, rumors about Cobra and Cecily hitting it off spreading like fire.

Of course, I did not give the least bit of shits about Cobra's love life- I was simply amused by the whole ordeal, considering Cobra was not one for relationships.

But then again, this school has made quite a toll on all of us so it didn't come out as a big surprise at all.

"Yeah dude, the entire school is talking about your little moment with that chick. Out with it, Cobra, no one will judge ya," Cliffie smiled curling up into a ball on the bed he lay on.

"Yeah, I mean, that tongue action was just-woo!" Julie chimed in, snickering a bit and rolling around in the desk chair he sat on.

"Shut the fuck up, Jul," Cobra hissed lowly, his voice sounding higher than it usually was. "And I'm not dating Cecily. It's-it's complicated." He murmured the last part, so quietly, I almost missed it.

"Complicated as in it's just a one-time hook up or..." Matt spoke up, not looking away from Endellion's phone which he took over.

"Whoa whoa, you fucked her, dude?" Max questioned, smiling manically at the embarrassed boy sitting next to him.

Cobra groaned loudly, his cheeks heating up. "Funny. You guys know I don't sleep around-"

We all knew it was true; Cobra might've been the only virgin out of the five of us-Cliffie not included, because we wouldn't let him sleep around.

"So it wasn't just a hook up?" Matt interrupted, tilting his head in confusion.

Cobra sighed, biting the inside of his lips as he looked at us in defeat. "You guys won't leave me alone until I tell you the actual reason." He stated. My friends nodded excitedly with me just rolling my eyes.

"Nope," Cliffie admitted, a grin lightening up his features as he looked at Cobra.

"She-um," Cobra began looking away as a mixture of feelings passed on in his face. "She's not talking to me...after we kissed-"

"Made out," Julie said, unable to contain himself.

"Not the time for jokes, Julie," Matt said, reaching up and punching the boy on the arm.

Julie mumbled an apology and shut his mouth, allowing the melancholic raven haired boy to continue.

"She's been avoiding me guys and I-I just don't know what to do," he admitted, his expression morphing into one of pain. "I know I sound stupid right now but I like her...a lot, okay?" he shouted, seemingly frustrated with himself.

I couldn't help but find the entire ordeal pathetic. Crying over a girl was not something my friends were supposed to do. However, I contained myself a little longer.

"After we kissed," Cobra began, taking in a deep breath as pink tinted his cheeks. "She-uh we- talked for a bit, and I told her about my feelings and she didn't seem to accept them it was weird," he stammered, jumbling words over each other. "She just changed. It was like she was fine one moment and then the next she just snapped."

"Snapped?" Max asked.

"Yeah, she," he pursed his lips tightly- not used to talking this much. "She pushed me away, turned around to leave and then when I tried to stop her she-ugh." His face hardened in anger and embarrassment. "She slapped me."

"Whoa dude, the fuck?" Cliffie sat up in his bed, his eyes wide.

And I couldn't say mine weren't the same.

Cobra had gotten rejected and slapped by a girl, who, looked like she wouldn't hurt a fly. This was all way too confusing.

"Damn straight," Julie sat up in anger, clinching his fists. "Who does this bitch think she is?"

Cobra glared up at Julie, silencing the boy down.

"Julie, don't," Max warned, fully aware of the visible annoyance within Cobra at the mention of anything bad about the girl he liked. "Why did she slap you, Cobra? Did you use strength against her or something?"

Cobra threw his face into his hands. "No I didn't. I would never..." he took in a deep breath. "I honestly have no idea why she would do that."

By the time the words left his mouth, I was done with the bullshit that was coming out of it. "Cobra, what the fuck happened to you? You were never this...this cowardly and pathetic. You're acting like a stupid sack of shit who has his head so far up his ass; all he's seeing is black."

"L-Luther...?" Cliffie said quietly, his eyes wide with shock.

"Luther what the fuck is wrong with you?" Matt shouted, finally putting away his phone and glaring at me.

I ignored him and looked at Cobra with disgust written all over me.

Cobra chuckled dryly, "Since when was having feelings pathetic and cowardly? Last I'd checked, men who are willing to show their emotions are the strongest."

"Nah, being a whiny bitch is not the definition of a strong man, Cobrain," I retorted in condescend. "If you have a problem, solve it. Besides, we have bigger issues at the moment to have to deal with petty love issues right now. We still haven't found anything about the fucking dipshit, Cage." I spat out, taking my pent up frustration out on him.

"Fuck you, Luther." Cobra said, his voice not raising an octave. "I'm outta here."

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes, leaning back and smirking at him, watching him leave.

Once he was out, the room fell silent.

"Party's over, go back to your dorm," I muttered rudely, leaning down and lying in my bed, closing my eyes.

Footsteps were heard and soon, I was alone in the room. Or so I thought.

"You're an ass, Luther." My brother muttered in distaste.

"Don't I know it," I grinned, my eyes still shut. "Close the light on your way out, won't ya?"

Matt shuffled around for a bit, and then, the lightening dimmed before my closed lids, the sound of the door shutting following.

And just like that, I was out, falling into deep slumber.
