Optimus and Ratchet: Tale as old as Time

You're Mine

Ratchet swore he heard music, he swore he did. To see if he was just being an old mech or if he was right, he went to investigate. He walked through the halls, as he walked the music got louder. He went in and saw the source, none other than Optimus Prime, his sparkmate, was standing near the radio/makeshift radio, blaring music, he saw Ratchet. He simply offered his hand, which Ratchet slowly took, he was pulled in and the door was shut, he listened to the music, it was familiar. But realized what it was as soon as he heard the voice of Optimus sing. 

I've begun to realize
That whenever I am with you
You deliver me from the pain
In my life
Easy now to recognize
All the misery I have been through
It was beating me to submission
Till the day you arrived
Certainly, I felt alive
Strength I had lost was revived
I'm mending inside
And we both know why

Ratchet felt like he was being told all about what Optimus has been through, from Megatron betraying him, to the war, the loss of his home, and the so many lives he had to end because of a choice they made. He soon heard Optimus sing something that made him swoon.

Mine 

Ratchet felt like he was being told how he helped him. Through the highs and lows of their lives together. He couldn't help, this was their song. He drew a breath, and sang. 

Been betrayed too many times
Didn't think I would ever recover
That it'd haunt me for the rest of my life
Then you opened up my eyes
And you helped me rediscover
With what you resurrected
A man who had died
Your power regave me new life
Made me reborn and refined
Rebuilt from inside
And we both know why

His voice sounded in tune to the singer on the radio. Optimus and him were gently holding hands, dancing, they were touching foreheads. Both of them joining in. 

I never thought I would ever escape
At times, I wanted to die
Feared that it all was just a little too late
For then I wouldn't survive

My heart recovered now, I
Owe you a debt that I can never repay

And we both know why

They were pouring their sparks into it. They loved this song, because they felt like it spoke to them. It fit their situation, it spoke of how through everything, the war, the betrayals, the deaths, their pain, agony, tortures, and fears, they find love in one another, they find the comfort and safety they need from the darkness in the world. They smiled, and finished the song.

After they finished, they shared a long, loving kiss.
