"Today was a good day" Matt said breaking the silence."It's been a great day" I said. Matt stood in front of me and held out his hand.
"Come for a walk" he offered.
"Sure Mr Pat" I smiled. I placed my hand in his and got up.
"So how are you enjoying being back?" He asked.
"Honestly it's weird"
"How so?"
"Ok so think about it for a minute"
"Yes.."
"For the past three plus years I've had 6am wake up get ready for breakfast in 15 minutes. Running through mud, climbing ropes, staying hidden. From having every minute of the day busy, on my feet doing SOMETHING. But now I don't have people yelling in my ear. I don't have things to do every minute. It's so weird. It's driving me crazy almost." I said
"I sort of see what you mean" he said.
"Yeah" I said. "Sorry for kicking you again today"
"Don't worry about it. It's like a reflex" he said.
"But I feel bad about it" I said walking backwards in front of him.
"It's fine I promise" he said.
"Yo-"
"Watch-" before he could finish I felt pain in my foot. I hopped on one foot trying to get a look at it. It was a piece of glass.
"Oh great" I groaned.
"I can call an ambulance or something" Matt offered.
"Nah I just need to get my bag. I've got a first aid kit in there" I said.
"Oh if only my shoulder didn't hurt" Matt joked.
"Fine I can just roll back" I said. And laid down and began to roll. Matt erupted with laughter.
"Ok ok stop I'll carry you" he said. I stopped and got up. Matt then continued to pick me up and carry me bridle style.
"I could've rolled you know" I said. Matt let me fall a couple of inches. My arms instinctively wrapped around his neck. He smiled at that.
"I didn't want you hurting yourself anymore. Besides the walk was my idea" he said.
"Yeah, To think If you didn't want to go on that walk, I wouldn't have glass stuck in my foot" I said.
"I'm sorry" he said.
"Relax I'm joking" I said.
We were soon back at our spot.
"There's a bench off the sand" Matt said and sat me on it. Then he went and got my bag.
"Thanks" I said and went into my bag. I grabbed my bottle and first aid kit. "Could you pretty please fill this with salt water" I asked.
"Sure" he went and filled the bottle. I poured a little bit of water onto the glass. Just to get the blood off so I could see what I was doing. When I could see I pulled out the glass and used some more water to sterilise. I used some napkins I had in there to dry it before I dressed it.
"All better?" Matt asked.
"Yeah" I said with a smile. We sat on the beach and watched the sunset. Another breeze blew past I shivered once again.
