"So how'd you two end up meeting?" Josh asked.
"It was at a convention, we ran into each other" Matt said.
"Literally, he spilled my food everywhere"
"It was an accident" Matt laughed. "And plus I ended up buying you lunch"
"It was a very nice lunch" I laughed. "Then AJ was filming one of his musicals, Matt was in it. Now what were you saying when you walked in? Something along the lines of 'oh she was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen' something like that wasn't it Matt?"
"I'm sorry I thought it went along the lines of 'most amazing voice I ever heard, I could listen to him read a dictionary for all I care' I think it was that one" Matt said with a chuckle.
"I still can't believe Brooke told you that" I said my cheeks going red.
"I can't believe she called me Romeo" Matt laughed.
"Wait, Romeo?" Josh asked.
"When I told Brooke and AJ about Matt I didn't tell them his name-"
"So they called him Romeo?" Josh asked.
"Exactly" Matt said.
"So how long have you's been together?" Josh asked.
"No no no we aren't together" I laughed.
"Uh huh, anyway I'm sorry but I have to get ready to go" Josh said with a sympathetic smile. I nodded. "You wanna put him in and say goodbye?"
"That would be great" I said. Josh threw me the keys, I caught them and got up. "Come on Max" I said and I grabbed his toy off the couch. He followed me out to the truck, I opened up the back and Max jumped straight in.
"Your going to be fine buddy, yo-you gotta listen to Rivin ok buddy. Your going to do a great job out there, you're gonna make me proud" I hugged him. "Your going to be the best damn dog out there"
"Max is going to do great" Josh said placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I'm going to miss him so much" I said as I squeezed the rubber bone in my hand.
"I know and after what I saw in there I'm sure Matt's going to take great care of you" he said squeezing my shoulder a little. I nodded and wiped away my tears that had welded up in my eyes.
"Max has always been here for me"
"And now you have AJ and Brooke" josh pulled me into a hug. "And Matt he likes you a lot. You two have a great connection, I could feel it in there. You like him don't you?" I nodded.
"Yeah" Josh chuckled.
"If he hurts you in any fricken way me and the boys and Nessie, we will all be on the next herc out of there. That's a promise" I smiled. (Herc is one of those massive military planes)
"Thanks Rivin" I said pulling away.
"Anytime" he smiled. "He's waiting for you" I looked to see Matt standing by the door. "I think he's getting jealous, what do you think?" Josh whispered.
"I think you're an idiot" I laughed lightly shaking my head.
"And your not?" He said. I gasped and slapped his arm.
"A$shole"
"I have to go" he sighed. I nodded and turned around to Max.
"I'll see you soon buddy, I promise" I held out his toy and he grabbed it and put it down before nudging me with his nose. I hugged him and kissed the top of his head. I rested my head on his. "Soon buddy I promise" I said. When Max whined my heart felt like it was tearing apart. I closed the door and stepped back.
"I'll see you around" Rivin said patting my shoulder.
"Yeah" I said quietly. He went and got in the front seat. He started up the car and headed off. I crossed my arms over my chest, tears welding up in my eyes. I looked at the ground as the tears streamed down my cheeks, dripping onto my arm.
"Skylar" I looked up hearing Matt's voice. I practically dove into his arms, Matt stumbled back but wrapped his arms around me. "It's going to be ok"
