*3rd November 2016*
"Ooff" I sat up after Max had jumped on me waking me up. "Hey Max" I said hugging him. He let out a quiet bark. "Come on let's go get some breakfast" I said. I got up and quickly got dressed.
"Come on bud" we went outside and headed down the street. We stopped at a small café, I went inside whilst Max sat at the door. I ordered two breakfast meals before going and sitting outside with Max. Soon our food was brought out. I put Max's on the ground and I ate mine. Soon we were done and headed off. We stopped by the park on the way home. I sat down in the grass rough housing around with Max. My phone began to ring.
AJ- hey.
Sky- heyj, what's up?
AJ- haha, but they're here for Max.
My heart sank.
Sky- a-alrea-ady
AJ- yeah, where are you?
Sky- i-I'm at the park.
AJ- I'll come get you.
Sky- no no it's fine I'll, I'll be there soon.
AJ- alright.
I hung up. "C-come on b-bud" I choked. Max whimpered rubbing up against me.
"I'm fine" I said. I got up and we headed back. Tears trickled down my cheeks as I walked. I jumped as a car honked behind me. I turned around as the car door opened.
Matt.
I gave him a weak smile as I wiped away the tears from my cheeks. I looked back to see he was now jogging over. He pulled me into his chest.
"It's ok, it's ok" he said holding me.
"Th-they're t-taking him aw-away" I sobbed. He was quiet and just held me.
"Come on" he said and led me to his car. He opened the door and I got in. He got Max in the back before he got in the front seat and started driving. I pulled down the visor and looked at my reflection in the small mirror. My eyes were puffy and red, my hair was going in fifty directions at once. All in all, I was a mess. I sighed and began fixing my hair. I felt a squeeze on my leg. Looking down I saw Matt's hand. Matt looked at me with a small smile, I smiled back before brushing my fingers through my hair. We pulled up home, in front of us was a military jeep.
"Hey" Matt said, I looked at him. "It's going to be ok" I just nodded before getting out of the car. I opened up the back door and Max jumped out. Max looked at the jeep before back at me.
"It's going to be ok buddy" I said patting his head.
"Let's go" Matt said placing his hand on my back. I nodded and we walked up to the door. I took a deep breath before opening the door.
"JOSH!" I ran over and jumped on Rivin in a hug.
"Haha hey P" he said hugging me back. He set me down. "Hey Max" Max ran over and started licking him.
"What are you doing here? And who's looking after the squad?" I asked.
"I'm here to get Max they thought it'd be best if I came and got him" he said.
"Oh" I said.
"So who's this?" He asked quietly nodding to Matt.
"I'm Matthew, nice to meet you" Matt said and held out his hand.
"Sergeant Joshua Rivin, the pleasures all mine" Josh said shaking Matthew's hand.
"So how long are you here?" I asked. He checked his watch.
"I've got an hour" josh said.
"Cool" I said. We all sat down and talked. Matt and Josh got along like a house on fire. (That's a good thing) Within about 30 minutes they were like best friends. Max laid with his head on my lap. I pet his head, his tail wagging back and forth.
"P?" I looked up.
"Sorry what?" I asked. They both just laughed. "What?"
"I was asking how your arm was going?" Josh chuckled.
"Oh it's fine" I said.
"That's good" Josh smiled.
"Yeah"
