Peri's POV

After school ended on Friday, Nathan and I flew home to meet our mother. She told us yesterday that she had to inform us on an event, and that was it. I knew it wasn't another vacation, because we literally just came back from one. When we entered the kitchen, we were surprised to see my father– I mean our father, standing beside her too.

"What's going on?" I ask, placing my book bag down on the island. They were leaning up against the counter, and Father stepped up when I questioned them.

"I'm going to get right to the point, because I just got called into work. But your mother and I decided that tomorrow would be a good time to renew our vows." He told, adjusting the buckle on his utility belt. I turned to look at Nathan, who had this confused look on his face.

"I don't understand." He spoke, just as I knew he would.

"Y'know from their wedding, the whole ceremonial part of it?" I inquired, but he still looked terribly lost. "I do?" Nate said oh, and I shook my head in response. "They're going to do that again."

"Why?" My brother barked.

"What the fuck do you mean, why?"

"Peri!" My mother scolded, pointing at me disapprovingly because of the language that I used.

"I meant, what do you mean, why? It's cute, it's like getting married all over again, but not really." I corrected.

"Exactly, and actually, that little trip to the Hamptons? That was a cover up, we only went to check out the hotel, because that's where we'll be holding the event." Our Dad told, and I knew that the vacation was just too good to be true.

"And here I thought you guys wanted to whoosh us off to the Hamptons because you loved us." Nate joked, and we all chuckled, but he was being serious.

"We do love you," Mother snaked her arm around Dad's waist, and pulled him in for a side-hug. "but we love each other too." Personally, I stood there in awe, observing the two as they discussed the event. But Nathan on the other hand, I couldn't help but notice that he was a bit silent. I poked my elbow into his stomach, getting his attention.

"What's wron–" And before I could finish, the brunette stepped off. I took that as him not wanting to tell me, which made me follow him up the stairs. The whole time, he seemed determined, and my curiosity grew. I watched as he threw his book bag down, and grabbed his laptop from under his bed.

I decide to shut his door behind us, only because I knew that he preferred it closed. "Nathan, what are you doing?" I asked, sitting down next to him on the mattress. He was tuning me out on purpose, and that was slowly making me annoyed. Quickly, I stood back up to walk from out of his room, but he grabbed onto my arm. As I looked down, a feeling shot up it, and I glanced over to see if he felt it too. But the boy's eyes were trained on the computer, telling me that he didn't.
