"It's okay, Roman, you'll get 'em next time."
- Peri

I was surrounded by the soft and clear, infinitely blue sky. It made everything beneath it seem so simple ... if only everything were that simple. Why are all of the men in my life temporary, better yet, why didn't my Mother want me? What actually happened finally hit me, I was no longer solely stunned by the fact that she was gone, because it was much more complicated than that.

She abandoned me, and didn't look back for a single second.

Maybe I would've been worse off with her, given what she did to Keith and Georgina. I understand that I'll never know, and that I'm beating myself up for no reason. It's just ... it would've been nice to be able to make that decision myself.

"–She's out here, dude." A voice piped up, and I recognized it as one of the boys. Before I had time to brace myself, and see which one of them decided to chase after me, I was met with both of them.

They simultaneously turned their heads to meet my gaze, and I scoffed to myself. Even then, fate was giving me a hard time ... I knew I should've trusted my gut feeling.

"Peri, I'm so sorry for the way things spiraled in there, I should've said something." Roman scolded himself, while taking a seat to my right. Nathan sat on my opposite side, and rubbed my back soothingly.

"It's okay, Roman, you'll get 'em next time." I joked through my tears, and when he saw that they were still falling, Ro wiped a few away. We both turned to Nate, almost like it was his turn to speak. He looked confused, which was kind of funny.

"I can't relate, I got 'em that time." Nathaniel shrugged, as if it was no sweat off of his back. I shook my head softly, realizing that I could always rely on him to provide some form of comic relief. Even when the situation doesn't call for any, like right now. "Oh yeah, and if it makes you feel any better, I apologized to Marcela, even thought she didn't really know I said what I did."

"Speaking of, I just wanted you to know that I didn't–" I let Roman speak for a bit, but something Nathan had said finally registered.

"What do you mean ... if it makes you feel any better?" I question, cutting Ro completely off. He could tell by my face that I didn't mean it, but I said I was sorry regardless.

"Nothing, just that I know it upset you, so I wanted to make you feel better?" Nate elaborated, letting me know that I didn't read what he said incorrectly.

"So, what, you only told her you were sorry because you thought it would make me happy? Not because, hmm, I don't know, it was a disgusting and rude thing to say!?" I ask again, my question almost sounding rhetoric.

"Pretty much, do you want me to go in there and tell her again or something, like what? I'm very confused on what you want here." Nate held his hands up in a questioning manner, completely blind to how much of a dick he is.
