Glaiza's face had dropped. She pursed her lips and gripped the armrest of the chair until the whites of her knuckles showed and exhaled forcefully out of her nostrils.
"Rhian!" A loud shrieking voice startled the three of them. The woman, maybe her age, gave Rhian a tight hug.
"See? What have I told you Jason? She loves you more than us." Said the mid-aged woman who just stepped into the room. Then she turned to Rhian giving her a peck on the cheek. "I guess you went here straight from the airport, darling?"
She saw Rhian nodded and still unable to speak. She could still see the huge stupid grin on Jason's face.
"So...is it true what Mom told us, sis? You two are finally getting married?" Rhian's sister clapped her hands in excitement.
She did not say yes, yet. She thought.
"I miss you too, Nads." Rhian responded finally. "I would like you two to meet someone."
She went rigid as she saw the three approaching, all smiles.
Rhian cleared her throat. "Mom, Nadine, this is Glaiza Galura." She beamed holding her arm.
She saw Rhian's mom cringed her forehead. "Do you happen to know, Boy and Cristy Galura?"
She nodded and smiled. "Yes Ma'am, they're actually my parents."
"Well, then give me a hug and call me, Tita Clara." She offered her arms and she quickly accepted them in retort. "Not to brag, but did you know I was the one who helped your father woo Cristy?"
She chuckled. "Wow, Mom! I didn't know you had it in you..." Rhian mocked.
"You have no idea how Cristy could be that hard to get!" She smiled and scratched an eyebrow. "Oh those days." Clara reminisced. "So how did you two meet?"
"I work for her." Rhian sweetly answered.
"Oh no, I'm just the photographer. She works for my father." She shyly uttered.
Rhian put her arms around her and held both of her arms. "She's being humble again, Mom."
"She got that from her father." Clara giggled.
"How old are you, Glaiza?" Nadine cut in.
"Turning 28, next month."
"We're of the same age, I just turned 27 last month." Nadine said enthusiastically.
Just when she thought they were having a nice conversation, Jason broke his silence. "I hope you and your parents can attend our wedding, Glaiza."
She felt Rhian quivered.
"I'm sure the Galuras would squeeze in your big day in their tight schedule, right Glaiza?" Clara said.
She was about to open her mouth when her phone rang. "I'm sorry, I need to get this." She excused herself and went outside the room. "I'm so glad you called, Ben." She could still feel her pulse quicken.
"Glaiza, you forgot about our meeting, as expected." He hissed.
She held onto her nape, leaning on the concrete wall. "Can we move it this afternoon?"
