I was only five years old when I moved into that house. The house next to him. The house next to the boy who would change my life.

I remember how we met.

I was riding my bike around the street, but didn't notice the large pothole just centimeters from me. I rode my bike into it, lost control and fell off.

My knee had a stinging feeling. I tried to carefully sit myself up, but I was in too much pain.

Then, he came. His hair was a dusty blondish-brown, then. But his eyes were the same. Blue like the sky that day.

He helped me sit up, eyes full of concern. He examined my knee, before looking into my eyes.

"Are you okay?" His small voice was calming and angelic. I nodded as a response. "Come with me, my mum can clean it up and put a bandage on it for you."

Bandage? I then remembered that I hadn't looked at my knee yet. I was shocked to see crimson blood oozing from my knee. I wasn't one to usually hurt themselves. I was normally cautious.

He held out his hand, gesturing for me to take it. I did, and he helped me up.

Slowly, we walked to his house. Well, I limped.

"So," he started, trying to make conversation to distract me from the pain, "my name is Phil. What's yours?"

"Y/N," I managed to mumble, due to my shy personality.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Y/N."

We soon reached his house. I realised it was next to mine.

His mum was nice. She tended my wound, and as if she were a nurse, gave me a lollipop.

"I'll walk you home, now," Phil said cheerfully, though he looked as if he wanted me to stay longer.

I mumbled a quick 'thank you' to Phil's mother and walked with Phil out the door.

"Where is it?" I pointed to the house next door and his face glowed. I swore his smile could easily beat the sun in a shining contest.

"We're neighbors?"

"Yes," I mumbled.

"That's awesome! I have a new friend. I'll talk to you again, yeah?" I nodded. "Great! Bye, Y/N!" I waved back and turned to go inside.

"Oh, wait!" I turned back around. "We forgot your bike! I'll go get it!" He ran off and soon returned with my bike. "Good bye, for real now!"

I opened the door and walked inside with possibly the biggest smile I've ever had. He was sweet. I didn't think I had ever met anyone like him before.

My parents swarmed me with questions when I got home. I told them everything. They were glad that I had gotten home with no real damage but didn't like how I went to a strangers house.

So they arranged to meet them. The next night. I couldn't wait!

~Time skip~

It was the night. The night Phil and his family came.

I couldn't wait to show Phil my room!

Okay, I wasn't, and am still not exactly the 'girly' type. My room had Mario, Crash Bandicoot and Doctor Who posters everywhere.

Basically, I'm a massive nerd. My parents are nerdy too. Mum didn't want me to be girly, so she raised me without dolls, without princess movies, without pink or dresses. I'm fine with it, though.

I was playing Mario Kart by myself, when my mum yelled out, "Y/N, the Lester's are here!"

Lester's? I thought. Who are they? Then I remembered, it was probably Phil. Whoops.

I paused the game and dashed down stairs to greet my new friend. And there he was, standing at the door. He was wearing a plaid shirt, which honestly suited him, and jeans.

I ran over and pulled him into a hug, which he returned. He pulled back and studied what I was wearing. "Hey, we're twins!"

I looked down. I didn't notice that I too was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans!

I giggled. "Do you want to come see my room?"

"She talks!" He said loudly and I blushed a little. "Sure, I'd love to see your room."

We ran back up the stairs and into my room. His jaw dropped as we entered the nerdy paradise.

"Wow, this is awesome! And you have a TV in your room? Woah!" His eyes wandered around my room, studying all the posters and stuffed toys. His eyes landed back on my television and the console. "Can I join?" I nodded and exited the race I was doing.

After much arguing and victory dances, we were called down for dinner.

Phil and I entertained ourselves while the adults were having their own conversation by playing footsies under the table.

After cake and ice cream for dessert, it was time for Phil and his family to leave.

Our bond was made then. It was a bond that we thought unbroken. But we don't decide the future. It just happens. Some friendships end, some friendships start. Some friendships just grow a little closer.

Only time will tell of what happens to Phil and I...
