"Wait what?" I stumbled.
"You are the daughter of Poseidon," Chiron smiled, it was a warm smile, but had grown dry over the years.
Wait. Why did he say "the"? I looked around at the rest of the crowd. They all had looks of shock on their faces. The Stoll brothers and the rest of the Hermes cabin had come to the beach. They had the same look as the rest of the crowd. I stood shocked for a few moments. I couldn't believe it. I was claimed.
"Come one. We need to get you into your cabin," Chiron said. He led me out of the range, Percy followed with Annabeth they were whispering to each other.
I finally get away from all those Hermes Kids, Hallelujah. One of them stuck a beetle in my shoes while I slept. But one thing stuck in my mind. "Why were they looked at me so strangely?" I said.
"Well, the big three, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades made a pact to not have any more demi-god children after World War Two." he said in a very serious tone.
"Then why am I alive?" I asked, I was still getting over the fact that my father is alive.
“Because he broke the oath." Percy said,
“So I’m the daughter of Poseidon because he has no more daughters?”
“Yes.” Chiron replied
Everything was making sense now, or at least the parts I remembered. I loved the water, horses. I’m athletic, I can read Greek. While my brain was guessing things out, Chiron had leaded me back to the Hermes cabin.
"Go in and get your stuff. You'll be going to Cabin three,"
I went inside. I stepped over people’s sleeping bags to get to mine. I clumped up my t-shirts and pushed them to the bottom of my sleeping bag. I collected my sleeping bag in my arms and ran to the door.
I was excited that I was getting to stay in the cool cabin. As I approached I noticed it was a long, low building with windows facing the ocean, and looking like it's made of rough sea stone, with pieces of coral at the end of the cabin and a trident over the door.
I walked in the door, the inside I loved; it had walls made of abalone with rows of neat bunks, and a salt water fountain. (That had been cut in half?)
“Percy,” Chiron cleared his throat, “Um, you can take it from here.” He said walking out. The room became deadly silent.
I cleared my throat. “Hi, uh.” This wasn’t going well. “My name’s Jackie. And I’m apparently your sister.”
Percy didn’t answer he just collapsed on his bed.
I set up my sleeping bag and lay down. I stared at the ceiling. This was my cabin. Just mine. No stupid immature Hermes kids. Uh, no offence to Hermes… or anything.
Having Percy in here was perfectly fine. I laid there for a few minutes. I saw dusty cobwebs coating the roof. On one of the walls, someone had written “PERCY JACKSON LOVES ANNABETH CHASE!” in big letters.
I smirked.
“Who did this?”
Percy blushed, then sighed, “Oh geez…My-uh-Our brother Tyson.”
“Where is he?” I questioned.
“He’s working at the Cyclops forges for our dad.” Percy said with a slight smirk. They must be really close.
“Wait, you said Cyclops. Tyson is a Cyclops?” I said.
Percy just stared at the ceiling; he didn’t seem really chuffed about having a sister.
“Are you mad?” I said, this comment caught him off guard.
“Well, yeah?” He asked sitting upright.
“I must be a real inconvenience to share a cabin with me then. I guess I’ll just pack up and go back to the Hermes Cabin” I said angrily, climbing down and pulling on my socks.
It seemed like this happened a lot. People always treated me differently. I knew it. Even if I didn’t remember. Even if I was at a camp with people like me I was still different.
“Don’t say that.” He said, “I felt the same way. I’d thought I’d lost my mom as well. She got taken by the minotaur.”
Tears welled up in my eyes; I dramatically collapsed and gave Percy the silent treatment.
At least he knew who his mom was.
Minutes passed awkwardly, all you could hear was the trickle of the spring.
“Look… Jackie. I haven’t felt like this since I was your age.” Percy said breaking the silence, “I’m not angry at you, I’m angry at our dad.”
“You called me Jackie.” I smiled.
His face broke into a smile, but he continued, “But, the only thing was, he said there was no more after Tyson.”
“No more what?” I asked.
“Poseidon children.”
Ouch! This comment hurt, I pulled my hood up on my jacket. I sat silently and watched the water run in the spring. Percy fiddled with a gold coin. My eyes caught his and we silently exchanged green eyed glances.
“Percy?” I asked quietly.
“Huh?” Was his intelligent reply.
“Does dad really love us?” I asked as I climbed down from my bunk and sat on the floor next to him. He gave me a smile.
“Yes, of course he does and he always will Jackie, okay.”
“Then why doesn’t he come and see me? Why didn’t I know?”
“Because it just has to be this way okay? I felt the exact same way.”
“Kay.”
This time Percy really smiled. His jet black hair sticking up all over the place, and he had a goofy lopsided smile plastered on his face and his eyes sparkled. He was definantly my brother.
I smiled back, “Do we have any powers being Demi-gods?”
“Oh yeah, we have heaps of powers, you can control water, talk to horses, breathe underwater.”
I was amazed that he spoke to truly, as if he’d done those things. I listened to him as he told stories of things I’d would have loved to do. He told of lightning bolts, seas of monsters even and underground labyrinth. Fighting Kronos!
By the time we had finished chatting it was almost dinner time. A Percy and I were closer than I thought we could ever be. By the time we were at the door, Percy and I were punching each other and messing up each other’s hair.
And as Percy was about to piggyback me out the door, we heard a knock at the door. Percy answered and there stood a guy, with one eye smiling at us.
“Percy!” He smiled.
“TYSON!” Percy replied with a huge smile. “What are you doing here?”
“Daddy said that he wanted me to meet my sister. I didn’t know we had a sister! Where is she?” He replied with the cutest and warm smile.
I hopped off Percy’s back and went up to Tyson.
“Uh hi Tyson…I’m your sister… Jackie.”
