A/n- Let the subtle romance begin ;)

Leo's POV

Jackie was hot. But Leo would never say that to her, being the daughter of Poseidon and all. Leo wouldn’t want to have to deal with an over protective daddy or brother at that. But Leo still thought she was awesome, he liked her messy hair, her green eyes and her cocky, confident attitude, she was like a female Percy…then Leo realised the stupidity of the statement.

Leo started off to go rig his traps for capture the flag. But his mind was ticking, like one of his automatons.  Jackie reminded her so much of Thalia, except Jackie was allowed to date boys…at least that’s what Leo thinks.

But, if being a sidekick to two tall and handsome dudes on a quest wasn’t bad enough, Leo fell in love with almost every girl he saw, and Jackie was definitely on that list and she actually responded when he said hey.

It had been fun to hang with Hazel, but Frank had her under his wing, and Leo didn’t want to be awkward with her and all, especially if her boyfriend could turn into a grizzly bear.

“She did smile at my jokes.” Leo admitted, but he put aside the thought.

Jackie was way out of his league, she was tall, like 10 centimetres taller than Leo, and she looked like she could lap Usain Bolt with the legs she was sporting.  Leo sighed; he always fell for the really beautiful girls.

“She’ll probably end up with one of the Aphrodite guys; they know how to work their magic on girls.”

With their million watt smiles that reminded Leo of a teeth bleaching add. Come and get teeth that could blind the next generation! Only $99.99!

“I'm an Aphrodite guy. You want to date me…my bleached teeth will blind you.”  Leo mocked.

The demi-gods around him stared at Leo; he continued to walk further into the woods.

When Leo had first saw Jackie, he immediately thought that she was Percy’s sister. They both are attractive by basic standards and had those stupid smiles that people loved.

Leo remembered his dad’s words, “I’m not good with organic life forms.”

Maybe Leo was the same. Leo got too caught up in thoughts to think about the tree just in front of him. He stopped just before walking into it. “Holy Hephaestus that was close.”

He found his first trap, which was ironically opposite where Jackie and Percy were for capture the flag. He watched Percy give her a fill in on capture the flag, though her eyes were on the creek that flowed by the whole time. ADHD, it had that effect on everybody in this camp. Leo should know, his ADHD was extreme, even by demigod standards.

His fingers flew around the gears and levers, whilst checking the rigging of the trap. Though, even without the ADHD Leo was distracted, he watched as Percy controlled some water and then released back into the creek. Jackie did the same thing perfectly.

He went back to the trap, ‘Stop it Leo, she doesn’t like you, she isn’t different from any other girl.’

A normal girl would go for a good looking tall guy, “That isn’t trouble to be around.” Leo admitted grudgingly.

Leo suddenly sensed something in the air that wasn't right, that he knew wasn’t good, he’d been with Jason long enough to know when it was going to happen. And he knew where it was going to happen. He ran across the creek to Jackie.

“Holy Hades! Get under cover! Now!” Leo shouted, practically tackling Jackie into the trees. Percy got the message, he retreated into the shrubbery just as thunder rumbled and every hair on Leo’s body stood up.

Lightening arched down and struck the place where Jackie just was kneeling with the force of an artillery shell. When the smoke cleared, Leo’s ears were still ringing. Cinders rained everywhere; Percy stared at Leo in shock.

“Oh my gods, Valdez. You saved her life.”

Leo got up and gave a lopsided smirk, “You’re welcome.”

Percy smiled wearily at Jackie, “She’s in shock”

“Here.” Leo kneeled next to Jackie and heated his hand, but as soon as he did that, he regretted that he kneeled over her, because as soon as she felt the heat, about 40 gallons of water from the creek judo flipped Leo and sent him flying into a tree.

“Gods woman. You could have killed me.” Leo smiled weakly.

Leo checked that he still had his tool belt on, good, it was still there, but Jackie wasn’t looking very happy right now.

But she did look hot. Leo admitted.

Ever since Leo had gone on the quest to get the Athena Parthenos and when Annabeth had given him terrifying glares, Leo had thought of blondes as much too smart and much too dangerous. So when Jackie gave him that, “You tackled me!” countenance Leo knew he was in trouble.

“Valdez, what was that?” She said pointing to the spot which was still smouldering.

“A lightning strike Fisher girl.”

She clenched her fist, he probably shouldn’t have said that. Leo just smirked it off. She started to make her way over to him,

“Dude, why the Hades did you…”

“Jackie.” Percy said calmly, “Leave him alone. He saved your life!”

“Gee Thanks.” Leo said rubbing his sore butt. He didn’t know why people underestimated him; maybe it was because he had pulled out Breath mints as a weapon on his quest with Jason and Piper.

“Ha-ha! You haven’t outwitted me this time, because I’ve got a horrible weapon in my tool belt…Take the wrath of my breath mints!’

One time.

Jackie’s look softened a bit, “You saved me? You mean that was…” She looked up at the sky, Percy’s face turned white.

What had Leo gotten himself into? He had saved Jackie from Zeus’ lightning strike, which meant Leo was on Zeus’ naughty list as well. Just because he liked the damn girl.

“Holy Hephaestus. Fisher girl what have you done?”  He said with a cocky smile.

“I dunno Valdez.” She said frankly. “I haven’t been doing anything stupid... lately.”

Leo smiled, boy was she cute. Lately…she’s that dangerous?

He glanced at her leg, it was bleeding a bit. “Fisher girl are you okay?”

She rolled her eyes, “Yeah you know, I just bleed for fun!”

He smiled a broad smile, “We should go see Chiron.”

“Yes, that would be a good idea” Percy said.

Jackie looked at Leo and Percy, “Let’s go then.”

She smiled at Leo, as they walked towards through the forest back to camp, Percy lead about ten metres ahead of them, muttering things about his dad.

“Thanks Valdez…You know for saving me.”

Leo smiled, genuinely this time. “At least you didn’t end as Kentucky Fried Jackie.”

Jackie laughed, it was going well. “Sure.”

 For Leo at least.
