I woke the next morning feeling a bit shy, but really happy. The tips of my hair were singed and I had a few burn marks from holding Leo’s hands but I didn’t care. Leo had sat there grinning as his hair was on fire and that made me giggle last night. Though, the sheer awkwardness of my first ever kiss made me leave, which now made me mentally slap myself, he’s probably blaming himself.
I frowned in embarrassment and looked across the room, Tyson was awake and fiddling with scrap metal like Leo did.
“Jackie!” He said smiling at from the bunk across the other room.
“Hey Tyson” I said as I smiled at him, then I saw Percy, boy he looked tired, he was sitting up in bed, again breathing heavily. I needed to know what’s wrong.
“Percy?” He turned to face me, his green eyes looked tired and the bags under his eyes had gone darker, his dark hair was dishevelled like usually.
Did he even sleep last night?
“Hey Jackie.” He replied rubbing his eyes, “How are you doing?”
“It should be me asking that question.” I said to him, really worried about his state of mind right now.
Tyson climbed down from his bunk and sat next to Percy, “Percy didn’t sleep good, he has scary nightmares about monsters.”
I smiled at Tyson wrong use of the word good, but Percy looked at me and sighed anxiously, he probably noticed I was worried. “Don’t worry about me Jackie, I’m fine. I’m the one who’s worrying about you.”
I felt like I’d been hit in the face with a dodge ball. The reason Percy hasn’t been sleeping well was because of me?
“Percy,” I began climbing down from my bunk and sitting next to him, “You don’t need to worry about me, I’m fine, Chiron’s keeping an eye on me and everyone’s keeping a look out, you don’t have to lose sleep over it.”
He smiled at Tyson and I tiredly, “Yeah, I guess so.”
Tyson gave Percy a hug and I joined them. And it seemed like a big family group hug was just what Percy needed to wake up properly, because soon we were all dressed and ready for breakfast when Tyson grabbed his (oversized) bag and came over to us.
“Tyson why are you bringing that massive bag to breakfast?”
“I…uh…have to go back to daddy now, he wants me back down in the forges. Just in case Zeus…”
I nodded and so did Percy, Tyson pulled me into a bone-crushing hug, “See you sis, I hope you still look like a princess when I see you. I’ll tell daddy you say hi!”
I pat him on the back, “You do that big guy.”
Percy and Tyson said their goodbyes, just in time for breakfast and Percy and I departed for breakfast, while Tyson went down to the beach.
Breakfast was uneventful, yet I kept on getting shy smirks from Leo at the Hephaestus table. It was all a daily routine now…And I had only been here a week!
“A week since I lost a chunk of memory.” I admitted.
Percy came to sit down with me. “What did you say?”
“Oh, nothing.” I said as I smiled at Percy, he wolfed down his breakfast, which seemed to improve his condition. He was energised enough to keep fit, but he looked like he’d been up all night staring at wall.
