Percy's POV

Percy couldn’t sleep that night, his mind was doing bog laps. First Jackie coming, then the lightning bolt, how much could a guy take in a day, but then Percy thought of Jackie.

Or a girl.

She had been through everything that Percy had, only she had actually lost her mother, not had her kidnapped. And it seemed that Hera was up to something again. She had obviously taken poor Jackie’s memories like she did to Percy. Except Percy knew this was different. The memories taken away were for a reason, to protect her. It also meant that she definitely wasn’t worth forgetting about.

The memory loss was obviously very hard for Jackie, as when she had arrived at the cabin after the campfire tired, she was distraught and angry. Though Percy was sure he was worse when he had arrived at Camp Jupiter.

“I didn’t do anything Percy, I promise!” She had pleaded to him. Percy completely understood. He had been accused of stealing the very master bolt that could have killed Jackie.

“But you had a dream didn’t you?” Percy had guessed.

“How did you know?’ Jackie sat up in bed; she hadn’t bothered to get changed from her camp T-shirt or shorts but had just slipped off her shoes.

“Jackie, things like this don’t just happen. You’ve discovered your powers, you nearly got killed and you wash up on shore with a bunch of sharks, all in a couple of days.  You had a dream last night.”

Jackie was silent for a second, then she continued. “I was on a beach, dad was there and Zeus was talking to him, I had tried to stop him, but he had zapped dad with his bolt. He said that Poseidon would pay for…” She took a breath, “For breaking the oath again.”

His blood ran cold. Percy knew that Jackie wasn’t safe. The gods were out for Jackie’s blood and they were just going to make Poseidon watch.

“Jackie, we’ll talk in the morning, go to sleep.”

Jackie had smiled at Percy before snuggling down into her bunk, “Night Percy.”

“Night.” He had replied, but now hours later, still in bed, Percy was wide-awake worrying. He should be sleeping, but soon enough, Percy had to take his worries to the dream world…

Jackie's POV

“No!” I had awoken to the sound of Percy shouting. I had instantly shot up and unsheathed my dagger only to find Percy sweaty and heavily breathing in bed. Tyson was sound asleep in the bunk above Percy.

Percy looked at me, “Sorry, bad dream.”

“I know how you feel,” Jackie said rubbing her eyes. “How’d you sleep?”

Percy smiled wryly at her, “Good.”

“Oh, I doubt that Percy.” I said to him. His eyes were bloodshot and had bags under them.
