After loads and loads of research, I have found that there are three main clichés on Wattpad: bad boy, Alpha mate, and Mr. Billionaire.
Here's how the basic cliché goes: The girl is somehow hired as the CEO of a billion dollar company managed and run by our classic Mr. Billionaire. He's rude and fussy, always throwing things at our main, keeping her extremely busy. Mr. Billionaire has girls hanging onto his every limb, and our main will casually walk in on something she's 'not supposed to see' and ends up being scarred for life. Can she change Mr. Billionaire into a person who holds onto a serious relationship? Of course she can. Slowly, as they spend more and more time together, grumpy and rude (but jaw-droppingly attractive) Mr. Billionaire turns into a guy who appreciates her and actually enjoys her presence. He proposes and the girl is ecstatic (can you blame her? She's gonna be LOADED) and they live happily ever after.
Now, for some reason, being OVERLY RICH is an extremely attractive part of a male. Not only for the gold diggers, but even for the girls that claim not to marry/date for money. Now, how exactly does that work? Money is literally METAL and PAPER . So what, are you saying that a metal golf club or an essay written on paper is gonna make wetness pool into your panties? Is money ACTUALLY a turn on now?
And why is Mr. Billionaire always so hot? I'm pretty sure the majority of rich people in our world are old men. Have you seen Bill Gates? Awesome guy, but not exactly a Channing Tatum.
When the girl is about to be hired as CEO, we find that she is actually quite nervous and fidgety. Maybe it's the job, and maybe it's the Billionaire, but nonetheless, I would think that as a manager you'd want someone more confident and sure of herself. You're not just gonna give some girl the job if she's so scared that she's stuttering left and right. You don't just get hired as a CEO, you have to freakin' work for it and get promoted. Come on, Wattpad!
The Billionaire is all too magically enchanted by the girl's charm. You would think that it'd take a bit more time for the rude, egotistical man to change and really evolve, but it seems way too sudden when he says that this girl has changed him for the better and made him into a better person.
Oh and don't even get me started on the titles: Mr. CEO and I, Mr. Billionaire and I, The Billionaire Wants Me, Working For The Billionaire THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON.
Anyways, I think that this genre is probably the worst out of the main three, but write what you want I guess...
