I hate when you're reading in your main character's POV and all of a sudden it switches to some other person's. If this is a romantic story, it's most likely the love interest. I understand if the whole thing was set up to be a consistent switch between the two, but when you decide that just for one chapter, (or more) you want it to be someone else's, it throws me off a little.
Stay consistent and don't all of a sudden decide you want this love interest's POV and then your best friend's and your best best friend's and the love interest's mom's and your great uncle's and his cousin's daughter's pigeon's.
Also, don't decide you want to switch from first person, to third in the middle of no where. It's just a brainless act. Pick one and stick with it.
The worst is when you have people going back and forth between present and past tenses. Unless it's a flashback, JUST DECIDE!
