Caleb's POV (HE'S BACK)

"Maybe you shouldn't be at our family dinner for Christmas," my father tells me as he sits down at his desk.

Yes, because the last one was so well.

We were in the company building - well one of them anyway. The main one in Chicago if that makes sense. My father, being the usual pharaoh he was, doesn't help my case whatsoever.

"Wasn't planning on going anyway," I respond and sit down and crossed my arms.

I didn't want to go back to family dinners as long as I knew that he was going to treat me like this for dating Snow.

She hasn't said anything more about the last family dinner but I'm sure she was shocked to see how we, Brookens, behaved. And that's not even the worst part yet.

"On second thought, you're going. And yes, I'm only making you go because you just said you didn't want to." My dad bluntly says, gaining me a 'seriously' look.

Why would he do that?

"Can I at least invite someone?" I ask him and he shrugs.

"By all means, just make sure she doesn't say anything stupid. But if it is that Snow girl, I want to make my intentions clear that I don't mean to be friendly with her?"

I shake my head and reply to him, "I don't expect you to be friendly with anyone father, just cordial."

"Why do you assume it was Snow?" I ask him, sitting down on one of the chairs in front of his desk as he was typing on his desktop.

"It's not like you're bring Jax to the dinner. He's already invited. And it's not like guys like you, you are quite repulsive to them." My father admits quite rudely and I guess he had a point.

He knows I'm bring Snow, against my own wishes but I couldn't exactly say no to my father. It would be off with head if I did.

Usually we never have random as free willing conversations like this, but this one was one of those exceptions.

"You're right, I'm bringing Snow," I tell him before reaching out to get the coffee he was sipping on a moment ago and bring it to my lips.

"There's alcohol in that," he informs me and looks at me all suspiciously.

"I know," I smirk slyly and continue to take another sip from the coffee.

"I look forward to meeting her... again. I must say I was quite impressed by her fast reflexes to catch the knife. But just know that I don't agree with your relationship because you aren't going to stay with her forever. You know our rules, right son?" My father looks up from his screen to see me.

I knew what he was talking about. Women aren't seen as something necessary when you live in a mafia empire since other mafias will steal them and make negotiations - which in turn will make us weak. Also, women are distractions so my dad was telling me not to attached since I wasn't going to love her in the end. I think he's totally wrong since I would never let Snow cloud my judgement about crucial decisions for the empire. He acts like he doesn't love my step mother, Brooke.

What a hypocrite!

I'm sure my father had something to do with my mother's disappearance and until I find out for sure, I plan to be his puppet and heir to get close to him.

His views on women disgust me.

"Who else is coming?" I ask my dad who chuckles at me.

"Why do you even bother asking, Caleb? It's the same every year. We have a huge dinner gathering and party at the company and invite all our partners, investors, and employees with their family."
