Caleb's POV

"Well, what are you standing moping around for?" She asks me.

I glance down to my left to see Alicia crossing her arms, staring at Snow and the stranger she was dancing with.

"I'm not moping," I retort.

Was I obvious?

"Right...look, anyone with eyes can tell by the way you look at Snow that you are in love with her. So why are you standing her, letting another man come in between that?" Alicia Asks me.

I take a good second of something good to say but instead of just telling lies to satisfy her friend's ear, I decided to tell her the truth.

"Because I know that Snow wouldn't hurt me like that. I trust her. Besides I know that kid and I've been dying to introduce the two."

Alicia eyes me all weird and while crossing her arms, taps her finger.

"Who exactly is that?" She questions with a peculiar look on her face.

I smirk and look down at the best friend, "my half-brother."

My response catches her off guard and she remains silent.

After a few minutes of us standing awkwardly in the back of the room all silent, she finally speaks up.

"She loves you, and I'm praying that whatever secrets you are holding from her don't hurt her. I'm hoping for your sake and her's that the real reason you didn't tell her what you were up to two days ago was because you were busy planning a secret getaway for the two of you and weren't whoring it up with someone else. It's my job as the best friend to make sure she doesn't get blindsided, you know that right? After her mother died, she doesn't need any more false hope or people who won't be committed to her. She deserves more than that. If you love her back, my advise is telling her where you were two days ago."

She knew. She knows I'm lying. But I can't tell her the truth.

She won't believe me anyway.

I pretend that I don't know what she was talking about, "secrets?"

Alicia nods her head still looking at the dance floor seeing her best friend and my brother dancing on the dance floor.

Snow wasn't kidding when she said she couldn't dance. The girl is an awful dancer but I will never be able to tell her that.

"There's a lot we don't know about you, Caleb. I was hoping coming here tonight would give me more insight about you. You hold a lot of secrets," she confesses and I look down at her carefully.

She wasn't kidding. Then again, when does Alicia ever kid.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I finally found someone who I believe is scarier than my father.

"Not as intimidating as I thought you were, Alicia," I fire back and add a fake smile.

I lied. If Alicia was a monster in Monster's Inc, my scream would give her the most power to fill in a can.

I didn't seem to find a good comeback so I just rolled my eyes and walked away to the dance floor where Snow was at. I was actually a good few feet away from her. I didn't want to be so close so it would seem that I'm hanging around her to spy on her...which I was. But I didn't want to seem like it.

As long as she's happy, I'm happy. But those words that entered my brain immediately were to be dropped since I couldn't date Snow, not if I wanted anything with my father's company. I'm falling for her, as much as I try to deny it. Hell, I fell for her the first day I saw her but too bad, it's not the same.
