Percy's POV

Upon hearing Gabe's last words, I glanced over to Snow to see her run back into the building with only 1 minute before it was supposed to blow.

If it weren't for my training, I probably would've listened to my heart and ran back to save him too. We're a team - scratch that, we are friends. I followed Snow back into the building to drag her back out to a safe zone where we would be minimally impacted by the blast, but I couldn't see her.

We have tried to convince as many people to get out of the building as we could but some of them wouldn't budge and as Gabe had thought, his father was being particularly difficult.

"Snow!" I hollered out for her in hopes to hear her voice, but nothing responded back.

Screw my training! I ran in further into the building to find her and only caught the glimpse of her dress in front of me turning a corner.

"Snow, stop!"

I can't lose someone else I care about tonight. I know we have a code where we leave other operatives behind if we get caught or if extraction gets too difficult, but I couldn't stick to it.

"We need to leave, Snow. He'd want us to leave."

I keep calling after her but she keeps disappearing in front of me. There was no time left and I could feel time slow down as my feet gets heavy. The pressure in the room gets heavy and it becomes very hard to breathe.

I've never felt like this before. I've never felt sweat on my palms and my nerves leading me to complete anxiety.

I'm usually calm and collected even in these situations, but something has changed. She changed me.

"SNOW!" I call out for her one last time. Everything in my head is telling me to leave and run back the way I came from, but something in my heart keeps tugging me towards her, inching my closer to my death.

Passing all these empty halls on the bottom floor of the building, I've completely lost track of Snow. I notice that certain people were still upstairs dancing the night away unaware or having no concern for the bomb planted in the building.

I turn the last corner on the bottom floor and see Snow trying to pry the door open to the basement, but I already know that there was no hope getting that door open.

I run over to her and carry her on my shoulders. As I pick her up, she slaps me and resists me very harshly. I probably deserve it but I'm trying to save both of our lives right now.

With her extra weight on my shoulders, my body burdens more stress on its joints and knees. I feel my bad knee buckling underneath me with every step, but I brave through it.

I dash out of the building as fast as I could. As both of our bodies cross the door, I feel the walls rumbling and I hear a loud KABOOM come from underneath me. I see the walls slowly falling in on itself. Without a hesitation, I take Snow off my shoulders and position us both under the door in hopes that it's strong enough to barricade us from the shock of the building falling down. Holding Snow in my arms, I cover her body with mine and shield her face with my hands.
