I walk inside mv aunt's house, not even ready for the million and one questions I'm about to get. "Blankets in the closet for the bed." Malachi says then walks away. He's beyond bad about the whole situation but thankfully everyone else is sleeping. But when Malachi is mad someone will have hell to pay.

My phone rings as I sit my bag down on the floor. "What's up?" I answer. "It's D. I was just calling to check on you."

"I know who you are but yeah bout that, I'm here." I respond wanting to say more but he knows about everything so it's not need to explain all of that. "But what?" He asks. "It's a bit much on me right now. Drama at as school and now this like what else can go wrong?"

"I understand. I heard about the incident at school but I'm sure it wasn't what it looked like." He says. "Darrien they kissed and were beyond a friend zone distance."

"I know Ro but wrong moment, wrong time maybe.."

"If the situation was the other way round and it was me, you, and August say that shit it wouldn't be right. I'd be every kind of hoe in the book. So nothing excuses it."

"I mean I get it."

"August wasn't even my boyfriend yet like damn. Is it in y'all blood or something?"

He laughs, "I knew I would be brought into this."

"Is that why you called me?"

"No I called to check on you but it's just certain things you always do."

I suck my teeth, "Like what?" I ask. "Just know I know Royalty."

"Sure. You heard about JF?"

"Yeah. I sent in all my forms for my uncle to call back and say he can't make it until Friday."

"You riding or nah Ro?" Malachi asks walking into my room. "Where you going?"

"James needs me to go get D since he can't make it."

"That's who I'm talking to now but I'll stay here."

"Alright tell that nigga to get ready to go." Chi says then shuts the door. "You heard all of that?"

"Yeah. I'm packed and ready."

"How your dad holding up? I know him and JF were best friends... I don't know what I would do if I lost my best friends, if I had friends anyway."

"Shade but he's still trying to wrap his mind around everything."

After I get off the phone I fall asleep quickly.

I wake up and hear my aunt Carol and uncle Charlie talking very loudly. I peak my head out the door. "Good morning Ro."

"Good morning. Y'all good out here?"

My aunt laughs, "Sorry we were laughing about JF and that one year he dyed his hair blue." I laugh, "It was funny."

"We'll be going out today around two, do you mind staying here with Adrienne?"

"No it's fine."

"Okay. Malachi is at work and won't be off until 6. He told us everything with your friends. I'm so sorry to hear that. August seemed like a nice guy."

"Yeah." I roll my eyes. "I'm good on guys for a while."

"I prefer that way anyway." Uncle Charlie says. "You sound like Chi."

"Oh and Darrien is here. He'll be staying with us until James can get here." I'm so glad we're on good terms because it would've been hell seeing him all week. "Oh okay."
