Le'annaMarie's POV
When I got home from school, I made Carter his favorite snack- apple nachos. Just slice up an apple, drizzle some sugar free chocolate syrup and warm up some peanut butter to drizzle on top as well and he is complete. While he watches SpongeBob, I start working on a paper for Honors American Literature.
In the middle of my second paragraph, I get a call from Miles. It's been a while since I've talked to him and I still haven't gotten back to him about getting me a manager. I tried to talk to my parents but they don't think being in the music business is what's best for me.
"Hey Le'annaMarie. How you doin'? You've been quiet and I haven't heard from you..." Miles said.
"Hi. I've been good and I know...I've been so busy with school and work...but I am still open to the offer. Music is still another big priority to me and I couldn't forget about what's almost most important to me." I explained.
"Well what's keeping you from accepting my offer?" He asked curiously.
"My parents...they don't think the music business is what's best for me. Especially my mom. It's complicated." I said, devastated.
"Le'annaMarie?" Miles asked. I sighed before saying what I really don't want to say but what I know what's right to do.
"Miles...maybe you should find a different artist. I'm just not ready for the music business, right now, I guess. I don't have the time, I have a lot to learn and my parents are telling me not to waste my time in the studio because I probably won't go anywhere with it. Besides, I have a backup plan for a career." I told him. That backup is to be a music teacher.
"Le'annaMarie...that's not right for your parents to make you feel like your passion, your gift..is a waste of time. When you are in that studio, you make beautiful music and I can see something in you, so unique...please don't give up on this. I can tell you right now that you're ready to become a star. And knowing you, I know you are not worried about fame and fortune...you want to be a real musician, who makes real music to inspire, not impress. If you just let me help you through this, I will...set up a deal." He said.
"Thank you so much for the encouragement, Miles. But...what kind of deal?" I asked suspiciously.
"After you graduate, you will have your manager already. Him or her and I will tell you everything you need to know about the music business- the good and the bad. If you're interested, we will go to L.A., meet with some record dealers and hopefully get you signed...how does that sound?" He asked and it was a lot to take in but an absolute set plan or deal that I wanted to accept.
"That sounds like a deal...but my parents-"
"I know. We'll all talk about it, maybe Friday over dinner? Deal is that we put music on hold for a while until graduation then you will be set for L.A. Oh! And when will you be eighteen?"
"Next suumer in June, why-"
"Great! You'll be able to go without parent permission- you'll be legal, girl!" He said and I laughed.
"So is this a plan? Meet up Friday at my house to discuss this deal?" He asked and I smiled to myself before answering.
"Sounds like a plan, Miles."
"Well great. See you Friday!" He said.
"See ya! Bye." I hung up the phone and about ten minutes later mom and dad got home from work. I went downstairs and gave hugs before I joyfully told them about plans for Friday.
"We ain't busy." Dad said with a shrug
"Well..." Mom said trying to come up with some other plan rather than going to a music producers house.
