Le'annaMarie's POV

*The following week*

"I'm so happy for you, LeMarie. I really hope that all goes well when you go to L.A!" Lily told me during free period on Monday.

"Yeah, and you know you're taking me with you, right?" Haley said and I shook my head.

"Why not?" She whined.

"Because you are going to become a successful pediatrician and I don't think you need to have a record deal for that." I said jokingly and she smiled. I was only kidding because of course I want my best friend to come with me to L.A. But Haley has set her career on being pediatrician ever since her baby brother, who was born two years ago, had inspired her to work with kids.

"You're going to be big!" Lily said with satisfaction.

"Yeah!"

"So proud!"

"Well thank you, guys. But I wouldn't have gotten this far without Jada." I said and Jada flipped her hair with a smile.

"Yes, yes, you're welcome, girl." She said and we all laughed.

"So did you guys know that Andréas and Ortiz were cousins?" Simone asked and all the girls stared at her.

"Are you serious?"

"You are late..."

"Duh!" Jada said and Simone threw her hands up.

"Sorry I didn't know." She said rolling her neck slowly.

"It's okay, girl." I said and Simone grinned at me.

"Thanks for not making me feel bad." She said.

"Of course..." I said, "but they do look alike." Everyone burst into laughter.

"Thanks, Le'. Thanks for having my back." Simone said sarcastically then we both started laughing along with everyone else. After free period, the girls and I walk into the cafeteria and I stop in the doorway when I don't spot Andréas anywhere. I wonder if he is here today.

"You lookin' for me?" Andréas whispered in my ear causing me to jump a little. I turned around and he was smirking at me.

"Hi Andréas!" I said avoiding his question.

"Hey..." He smiled as he walked to get his usual chips and juice. That's embarrassing. Now I just look plain desperate, which I'm definitely not. As I waited for him patiently, I skimmed the cafeteria and when I spotted, Haley and the girls they were making googly eyes and kissy faces at me.

"Stop!" I mouthed.

"You waited for me. You're so sweet." He teased.

"Come on." I rolled my eyes and he chuckled. We comfortably took seats under our new favorite spot on campus- old benches under a tall palm tree.

"So, how was your weekend?" I asked him as I took out my lunch.

"Same old- work and homework. No time for anything else..." He said boredly.

"Well, of course you can. Just make time. You have to give yourself a break sometimes." I said.

"Yeah, you're right. But enough about me, what were you up to?" He asked.

"Well...on Friday my family and I had dinner at Jada's cousin's house. He is a music producer and I've been recording at his studio for about a year and a half now. Miles- is his name- offered me a deal that after I graduate, I will go to L.A with him and my new manager and possibly get me signed." I said.
