John saw visions after visions during the Lord's Day. Again, here, he was shown a vision about a war in heaven....(Revelation 12)And there was a war in heaven. Michael and his angels against the dragon and his angels. The dragon and his angels are not strong enough and they lose the battle. Michael and his angels won by their testimony and by the blood of Jesus, the Lamb.
Satan who is also the devil was hurled down out of heaven and their place or throne was no longer found there, and the dragon was full of anger against the city that bore the chosen child who is growing bigger and soon to rule the nations with an iron scepter. So, Satan went away to prepare for an attack against the remnants of the son of the holy city. He will empower his beast.
Again, the holy city was fed for a time, times, and half a time.
These were the last 3 and a half year-ministry of Christ to his people. The first 3 and a half year-ministry was when after his baptism, he went to the people to preach the good news.
The war in heaven started when he entered Jerusalem through his man Jesus, exposed the wickedness of the leaders there, and it culminated by sacrificing his body until death.
Christ fought the dragon on earth by his flesh and by his spirit against that same enemy at the same time in heaven. No one has ascended to heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven. (John 3:13, KJV)
Think about this: If the son of man was presently speaking to Nicodemus on earth, how come that he is also in heaven at the same time?
The phrase he ascended means he also descended. The one who descended even to the lower part of the earth is also the one who ascended even higher than the heaven in order to fill the whole universe with his presence. Ephesians 4:9-10
He also suffered in the flesh because of sins once for all times so that he might bring all to God, the righteous for the unrighteous. But though they were able to kill Christ according to his flesh or body, he continued to live by his spirit. And through his spirit, that's Michael, he visited also those who are in prison and made proclamation to them about his victory and about the good news, the thousand year of fair judgment. They are the spirits who disobeyed in the days of Noah while God patiently waited for them.
In fact, even the spirit of the man who was excommunicated in the first century AD, due to sexual immorality, has still a last chance to be saved on the Lord's day. 1Corinthians 5:5.Even the people of Nineveh, Tyre, Sidon, Sodom, and Gomorrah will have that last chance. But some will remain deaf and blind on that day like those of Capernaum, Bethsaida, Korazin, and all who had seen and heard Jesus personally and yet rejected him.
The war in heaven and on earth that happened during the first century between two sets of time, times, and half a time, has happened too between the dark ages and bright ages here on earth when the Lord came down, seized the dragon, chained him, and hurled him in the Abyss.
He did this to brighten up the times and so his saints can execute the fair judgments of God.
