A beast who is like the dragon that has seven heads and ten horns also came up out of the sea and he gave to it his power, throne, and great authority and used it to deceived the whole world. The beast was permited to utter proud words against the God of gods and to continue his authority for 42 months, that is the 1,260 symbolical days of years. He was permitted to make war against the saints and to conquer them. All inhabitants of the earth whose names are not in the book of the living will worship the beast and the dragon. The beast was given authority over every people, language, tribe, and nation.
This thousand dark years for the whole world is the result of their rebellion to God's good news and at the same time a trying time to the remnants of his saints in their faithfulness.
But after this dark ages, the Lord came down and rescued them and now has gathered them all to him and gave them the power to judge and testify.
At the same time, he gave the people of the earth a chance to govern themselves separated from the dictates of the beast. All the authority to rule was taken from the iron kingdom and now divided to the kingdom of the people. Religious authority is now being held by its ecclesiastical king and the civil authority by its political king. Iron rule mixed up with clay power but they do not unite. Hence a divided kingdom.
But instead of serving God, this new kingdom serves the abominable kingdom because their spirits are the same. It is like the spirit of the dragon too, a spirit separated from God. It cannot see and cannot hear and cannot perceive God's justice.
