Lance could hear the conversation waft down the hall as he made his way to the dinner table.

"Pidge and Keith seem to have gotten close," Hunk was saying.

"That's good. You three were already a team at the academy together. Keith and I are the outsiders. I'm glad to hear they're clicking," Shiro said.

"But they're like...familiar familiar," Hunk hinted.

"How do you mean?" Shiro asked.

"Like this morning, Pidge returned his pants that he 'left' in there. And then later Lance pulled her into his room and while she was in there, Keith entered her room!" the Yellow Paladin voiced his concerns.

"Daw, how cute! You're worried for our little lady's virtue," Lance crooned as he sauntered into the dining hall.

Shiro pinched the bridge of his nose. "Guys, stop. No. She's fourteen. There's no way tha— I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this. Lance, do you have any light to shed on the matter?" Shiro asked, fixing his gaze on him sharply.

Lance was a little taken aback by the intensity of his eyes, but he shrugged it off. "What, that? Keith busted my clock so she was fixing it for me. Also, Keith's shower broke so he's been using hers."

Shiro's gaze softened a little.

"So scandalous!" Lance said conspiratorially as he slid into his seat.

"It's because I overheard him and telling Coran. But Coran is working on things like castle defenses, and it will probably be years before it makes it's way up the priority. I wanted to help," Pidge explained as she rounded the corner with Keith. She strode forward confidently with all eyes on her.

"I appreciate your team-oriented attitude, Katie," Shiro said gently as Pidge found her seat and Keith tried his best to be invisible.

"It's not a big deal," Pidge dismissed. Lance remembered back to their previous conversation. The things he never understood about Pidge were starting to make sense.

"Still," Shiro's eyes were kind. "I think we can come up with a better arrangement. Keith, you will share a bathroom with Lance. And— let me finish!" the senior officer held up a hand to silence the roar of protests that arose.

Lance sprang to his feet and pointed an accusing finger at the Red Paladin. "Why do I have to share with him? I come from a family of seven, I've never had my own bathroom! Pidge probably got her own bathroom her whole life!" Pidge shot him an annoyed look.

"Oh, no. I wouldn't recommend getting her mad. She might turn off all your hot water for a week!" Hunk shivered. Something told Lance that this wasn't a hypothetical occurrence. He wondered what Hunk could have done that pissed her off so bad. Those two always got on famously. Always.

"You two need to learn to get along. If you can't manage this how can anyone expect us to manage anything? We are the Paladins of Voltron. There's too much at stake here," he said in a voice that reminded Lance of his father when he had done something bad. "And Hunk, can you see if there is anything you can do about Keith's shower?" Shiro instructed in a much softer tone.

"Yes, sir," Hunk accepted his assignment. "By the way, where's Princess Allura and that guy with the funny mustache?"

"Apparently one fighter ship got past us and did quite a bit of damage before it could be brought down. Coran is performing emergency repairs and the princess is helping him locate problem areas," Shiro explained.

"Oh...so how do we get the green food goo to appear?"

Shiro bowed his head in embarrassment. "Actually I have no idea," he admitted.
