Lance gulped. Keith was straddling him and the front of his shirt was balled up in the Red Paladin's angry fist.
"Uh...what?" he asked, dumbfounded.
"I, uh, that didn't come out right," Keith stuttered, turning as red as his jacket.
"I said that...what!?" Lance choked, as he frantically tried to remember what he might have said in altered state. "Why the hell would you bring that up? Also I hit my head, it's not like I knew what I was saying."
This was bad. Did Keith know something after all?
"I'm sorry!" Keith defended, loosening his grip. "It just seemed like a weird thing to ask, so I thought..."
"You thought what, Keith?" Lance shouted as he pushed Keith off of him with a little more force than necessary. But Keith still had a good grip of his shirt so as he flew backwards, he took Lance with him.
Keith landed on his back, still on the bed. Lance landed on top of him. Both boys froze.
Lance wanted to kiss him. Needed to kiss him. He didn't know why. Sure the guy was hot, but this was Keith. It wasn't like he liked him or anything. In fact, the sight of him sometimes was enough to rile him up into a bad mood. Maybe with all that had gone down he just needed to release some steam. And hadn't they been staring at each other long enough? It had been over a minute, but neither had moved. Keith's dark eyes looking up at him, watching and waiting.
Lance moved to get up at the same moment Keith did. But in that moment of panicked scramble something happened. A brush. It could have been mere curiosity, having been presented with this chance again, or it could be that deep down he wanted it. But unlike last time, neither party let it go.
They were kissing.
Lance's mind went numb for a good moment before snapping into overdrive. I'm! Kissing! Keith! And! Keith! Is! Kissing! Me! Back!
It was impossible to know who initiated it, only that both responded. It wasn't a passionate kiss or even a gentle kiss. Lance couldn't think what kind of kiss it was, only that it was a kiss. His first time kissing a boy. Honestly, it wasn't his best experience.
Both their bodies were ridged, as if they were afraid moving would alert the other party to what was happening and ruin it. The kiss itself wasn't exactly awkward, it was more...just not right. Not that Keith wasn't a decent kisser. As if they both didn't really know how to respond to the situation, but unwilling to pass it up.
But as much as these things were turning over in his head he was unable to stop. He had no idea how long the kiss had gone on, and was just gathering the courage to wrap his arm around Keith for a better hold when he heard a knock on the door. The slightly adjacent door.
It was Pidge. Pidge was pushing open the door.
"Hey, Keith, Hunk took a look at your shower and he knows what the problem is, but it's probably gonna take an all-nighter so can you stay in here for the night? It's probably gonna take us twice as long if we try to be quiet. Or honestly you can stay in my room, just don't trip over the—" she stopped as her eyes adjusted to the dim light.
"What are you guys doing?"
