"Dude."
"Hey."
"Lance!"
"Heeellooooooo in there!" A small fist lightly rapped against his temple. But it still hurt.
Lance turned his attention on her. Shiro and Keith long gone.
"Pidge!" He exclaimed breathlessly after an embarrassing long pause.
"Aye, that's me," Pidge agreed.
"Did you -- did you see that! He, he...justwalkedupandflippinkissedme!" Lance exclaimed in an excitable voice that was pitched two octives above normal.
"Wait, wait, wait. Who kissed who?" Hunk asked, curious about the racket.
"Lance was teasing Keith by acting all flirty-flirt, and then Keith straight-up kissed him -- like, really kissed him -- in front of Shiro. It was the funniest shit ever."
"No it's not!" Lance lamented at the same time Hunk commented that that didn't sound very straight to him.
"Anyways. I sooo called it. He likes you too," Pidge directed at Lance. Her face split in a grin, but not the sort of grin she wore when she was laughing at someone on the inside. This grin was pure, sweet happiness and unspoilt excitement.
"Too?" Hunks eyes grew round. "Oh! Now I get why you guys are always together, and like in bed and stuff."
"Huh? When was that?" Pidge asked, a little bit of jealousy in her voice from the fact that Hunk knew something she didn't.
"Hey buddy," Hunk ignored Pidge's question and smacked Lance's shoulder in what was supposed to be friendly and not painful. "How come Pidge knows all this? Heck, I didn't even know you were into guys! And we go way back. I thought we were bros."
As Lance stammered for an answer, to reassure his hurt friend, Pidge spoke up.
"Don't be too hard on the guy, he only just realized his feeling for Keith, like...yesterday? Two days at most," she affirmed, counting her fingers for emphasis. "And it's not like he told me anything. In fact I had to tell him what was up because space cadet here is super oblivious."
"But, but," Lance scrambled to collect his thoughts. Something wasn't right but he wasn't sane enough to figure out what at the moment. "He can't just make out and then walk off!"
"Apparently he can, 'cuz that's what he just did," Pidge observed.
"Wait, wait, tell me the whole thing from the beginning!" Hunk urged.
As Pidge delved into the details of discovering Lance's crush on Keith, Lance tried to focus on...something. It was all really fuzzy, okay? It was more than Keith suddenly breaking character and showing affection. It wasn't that Lance didn't think he could be affectionate, just that Keith didn't express it very well. Probably because he didn't know how. But there was something more that didn't feel right.
He knew the kiss wasn't genuine. Somehow the smug emo kid had figured out the one and only way to stop Lance's teasing. And that was by returning his bullshit with more bullshit. Calling his bluff and raising the stakes. Taking his joke and making it his own, but better. But there was something else that wasn't right. But Lance couldn't think of whatever it was now because all he could think of was how hot Keith had looked with his lip tucked between his teeth while he smirked all sexy-like, eyes heavy and focused on his lips, signaling his intention. Just woah.
"Hey buddy, are you in pain?" Hunk asked with concern, breaking off from swapping klance stories with Pidge.
"Ha, no. Unless you count emotional damage," Lance responded in a lighthearted manner.
"He's totes crazy for the guy," Pidge explained, the tracest amount of pity in her voice.
"That's rough, buddy." Hunk consoled. "But hey, congrats and all that on your first--"
"Hunk!"
Oh but it was too late.
Pidge's glasses glinted in a dangerous manor. "First? Oh no don't tell me he's your first first," her voice dipped low in a teasing tone.
"He means first guy! I've had loads of girl kisses -- tons in fact! Tell her Hunk!"
But Hunk's face betrayed the truth behind his furious nodding.
"Oh...motherboard."
