The Arrival

My heart came to a quick stop when we reached our location which was only two minutes away from where they had made the choice to make me one of their homes maids. It had been the talk of the town lately. Apparently a lot of young girls have been going missing lately. The culprit was still unknown according to most people I heard talking about the matter. I usually don't keep up with news around the streets but that particular case did bring my attention forward. Considering I'm a young girl and all, it was slightly concerning.

We neared who I recognized as Arthur Randall of Scotland Yard, stopping right in front of him. His face turned sour as soon as he saw us, for a moment I thought it was my own fault. Perhaps I looked worse than I thought? Maybe it was my smell.

"Earl Ciel Phantomhive. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be off selling children toys?" His tone of voice made me realize that it wasn't me at all- well maybe just a little. It was Ciel. It sounded like there was some type of coldness in his voice.

"You'd be wise to watch what you say to me. I'm here by order of you know who." Ciel chuckled with a smirk, he reached into his coat and pulled out a white envelope with a red wax seal. I've seen that seal before, I know I have. I just don't know where...

"We are quite fine without your help, dog." He sneered. I was taken quite a bit by surprise by the fact that he had just called him a dog.

"Is that so? I've heard otherwise." He ripped the pages from Arthurs' hands, "Says here that you haven't found out anything about the culprit. You only know he's going after young girls, that's something even I could have told you." He sighed, shoving the pages toward Arthur.

"Why am I getting such an odd sense of déjà vu?" Sebastian questioned, sounding obviously very sarcastic.

"Shut up Sebastian. Anyways, it indeed does look like you could use my help. Why don't you step aside and let me investigate?" Ciel sounded serious, yet smug at the same time.

"As I said before, your help is not needed here, Earl Phantomhive." He growled, getting most likely annoyed with our presence.

Ciel and Sebastian turned at the same time, heading back the way we came. It took me a moment to realize they were leaving. Confused, I ran after them.

"Sebastian, I want a list of all possible suspects, this isn't the first type of case like this. It shouldn't take you too long. By the time we get back to the manor I'd expect answers." Ciel kept walking, not even bothering to look at Sebastian.

"Yes, my lord." With that, he was gone. Almost like he just vanished in thin air, but that wasn't correct. He just seemed to slip out of sight, fading into the crowd behind us.

I had no idea where we were going so I kept close to Ciel, following behind him at a close enough distance to not get lost.

"You're much more quiet than the others. Good. Seems like you may actually have manners." Again, he didn't look at me while speaking. It seemed like he didn't care for doing so while being out on the streets. Or maybe in general. I wasn't quite sure yet.

"I stay quiet when I have nothing to say, as most do. Or should anyways. People who blabber on about nothing are always such a bore. Thank you, I've been told that several times actually. Manners are very important if you want to fit in." I kept my eyes on the ground while I spoke, still nervous to be around someone of such importance.
