Ciel and I had just finished eating our lunch when the front door slammed open without warning. I turned around, quite shocked, to see a girl with blonde pigtails and bright green eyes wearing all pink.
Yikes...
She stormed up to Ciel and I, screaming his name, then proceeded to grab him and spin him around. I can't imagine he enjoyed it, but she certainly seemed happy.
"Here this is for you, open it, okay?!" She held out a little box to him, "Hold on a moment... Ciel, who is this girl?!" She looked over Ciels' shoulder to see me.
"That would be (Y/N). She used to be my maid but we recently found out she comes from the Griffith family. She will be staying with me," Ciel started to remove the string from the present.
"Oh, I see. Why didn't you tell me you had another girl here?!" She looked down at his hand and grabbed it, "Isn't this the ring I broke?"
"Well fortunately Sebastian was able to repair it," Ciel said calmly.
"But that's impossible! There's not a single crack!" Oh my, if only you knew just what a demon was capable of, I wanted to snicker but held it in.
"That is true, but if I couldn't do something so simple then-"
"What kind of butler would he be, really?" Ciel finished his sentence, this time I did let out a small chuckle to their interaction.
"You took the words out of my mouth, sir," Sebastian bowed. The lady, who I think Ciel called Lizzy, looked upset as she took a step back.
"Oh, he fixed it, that's fantastic news," Her voice sounded like she felt a different way though. I looked down at the box Ciel was holding.
She couldn't have... Right?
"So, lady Elizabeth, what do you have in the box?" Sebastian brought us back to topic, just as he did she freaked out and grabbed the box from Ciel, saying that it was a secret.
"A secret? But you just told me to open it," Ciel looked about as confused as I did, I'm sure.
"No proper lady would ever try to win a gentleman with material things. That would be unseemly. Now are you ready Paula? Ring the bells!" Her high pitched voice was quite irritating, I don't know how Ciel puts up with it, I already had a headache. The girl with her, named Paula, rang the bells she had with her and they ran away, as fast as they came.
"So..." I started, "Who exactly was that?"
"Lady Elizabeth Milford, the young masters betrothed of several years," Sebastian said as Ciel stood there, still trying to figure out what happened. I wasn't concerned with that as now I was thinking about what Sebastian said. Betrothed? To her? Why on earth-
"She came here... to ring bells for me?" Ciel stared off towards the door.
"Tomorrow is your birthday, young master, I'm sure that's why she came," I turned to Ciel, understanding why he would not be as excited for his birthday as most people our age. Ever since his parents died it must just be a horrible reminder... "So what do you think? Shall we hold a birthday party? It seems some people would like to celebrate with you."
I looked down the stairs to see Mey-Rin, Finny, Tanaka and Bard hiding behind a pillar. Ciel looked solemn for a minute. Like he was remembering something, and I'm sure he was. Something bad. I wanted to place my arm on his for comfort but I doubt he would like that, he likes to act strong in front of everyone. The other night was the first and maybe last time I'll ever see him in a state like that.
