The sun was shining through my open drapes and I noticed Sebastian staring down at me with those crimson eyes.
"Ugnn.. Good morning, Sebastian," I grumbled, sitting up and rubbing my eyes with the backs of my hands.
"Good morning, (Y/N). It's time to wake up. Today you shall be in the garden. After lunch you are to go to young masters study, you have matters to discuss. Once night falls I believe we will be taking a trip as well," He smirked, walking towards my door.
"Of course, thank you. I shall be downstairs soon," I hopped out of the warm, comforting bed and walked over to my closet as Sebastian left.
I grabbed my uniform for the day, throwing it on my bed. I decided to ditch the corset for the day, I didn't need it. I noticed that yesterday. My curves were defined enough to fit the dress perfectly anyways. The corset was just an extra piece that I didn't really need. Unless I was trying to be more proper, but I didn't care about that today.
I finished washing my face and brushing my teeth, as well as concluding all my other business in the washroom before getting changed, wearing a matching midnight blue dress as the day before. Only this time I had a white apron and there was black frills over it. I wore the same white frilled headband once I had my hair brushed out and styled the way I wished.Another day of madness.
"Hello, Mey-Rin, Finny, Bard, and Tanaka," I smiled, walking into the servants quarters to see all the servants sitting there eating what looked like biscuits.
"Hello, (Y/N)! Would you like to join us?" Finny grinned, patting the seat next to him.
With a grateful smile I sat down, taking one of the biscuits as well as pouring myself a glass of water from the jug on the table, "Thank you," I giggled before taking a bite of the scrumptious food.
"You're very welcome! Us servants got to stick together, you know?" He cheered, a very happy smile on his adorable face.
"That we do," I agreed, taking another bite.
"How did ya do yesterday?" Bard asked from the other side of the table.
"Oh- I'm not too sure. I think I did okay. Young master and Sebastian seemed pleased enough. Today I'll be in the garden-" Before I could finish I heard a very happy squeal beside me.
"That's just great! We can work together!" Finny laughed gleefully, a closed eye smile gracing his face.
"Yes, we can. I'm sure it will be fun," I finished eating, then took a swig of my water.
How will I get away from Finny to go and meet Alastair? This just got a whole lot more difficult. Maybe it was a dream and I won't have to worry about it. Maybe I'll have a normal day, one where I can get my work done without any distractions. Well... Normal until tonight at least. For some reason I feel like I'll never know normal again...
Not even twenty minutes later I was outside, admiring the beautiful garden once again with Finny by my side.
"So how do you usually start the day?" I asked, turning to the turquoise eyed boy.
"I usually water all the plants that need watering! Sebastian says that I over-water them sometimes..." He suddenly got very sad sounding.
"I'm sure it isn't that bad. You just have to be more careful," I placed my hand on his shoulder as a way to show sympathy- something I wasn't fond of but still, most normal people would show it from time to time.
"Thank you, (Y/N)!" Finny grinned, skipping off towards a shed of some sort.
"And here's where we keep everything!" He dragged me in after him, barely giving me time to process what was around me before shoving me back out with gardening tools.
"I'll start by watering the plants," I decided, to which Finny agreed with a nod. He ran off to do- well I'm honestly not sure.
The plants will all die soon, it's getting closer to winter... As the cold and harsh atmosphere drifts over the land, beautiful flowers will turn into frozen icicles, losing all colour and looking hopeless.
The water sprayed out over the plants, covering them in the cold liquid that they relied on so much. It took quite a long time but eventually all the plants were watered to perfection and I was ready to take on my next task.
I walked off to where I last saw Finny so that I could ask what to do next, only to see him playing with a large.. Dog? That must be Pluto.
"Well... Now what?" I asked myself as the two ran off into the distance, playing together.
I shrugged, turning around and heading away from them.
I could always go and see if Alastair is in the woods waiting for me... It's worth a shot.
With that in mind I began walking off towards the trees that shaded the edge of the estate. Who even knows how deep the forest goes or how dense it is with trees. That wasn't something I really cared about. I had to admit that I was more than slightly curious to find out what he had in store for me.
After walking through the trees for about ten minutes or so I stopped at a fairly large clearing. The sun still wasn't very high in the sky so it wasn't as bright as it could be. The grass was long but not to the point where you couldn't see your feet. Leaves covered the ground from the trees losing their leaves, which sat on the tree branches as lovely shades of red, orange and yellow. It was peaceful and quiet, not a sound to be heard besides the birds chirping around the area. At least it was peaceful and quiet.
"Hello, darling. Glad to see you here," Alastair called from behind me.
I turned around in a rush, my long hair swirling around with me, "You have got to stop sneaking up on me like that," I grumbled, taking a few steps back.
"Sorry, dear. I'll try, but it's just so fun to see you get all scared," He smirked.
"So how long is this going to take? I have to get back to do my work at some point," I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Well now, that all depends on you. Don't worry about your work, I have it covered," He gave me a crooked grin, stepping forward.
I huffed out a breath of air, pursing my lips together, "Of course you do."
"Well what kind of a demon would I be if I couldn't handle some simple gardening?" He jested, throwing his head back with a laugh.
"Yeah, I get it, let's just get on with the training," I uncrossed my arms with a sigh.
"As you wish," Alastair seemingly disappeared, causing me alarm.
Where the hell did he-
I couldn't even finish my thought process because next thing I knew a hand was wrapped around my neck.
"First rule. Never lose sight of your opponent. You can't let them sneak up on you," He twisted me around to face him.
"How was I supposed to keep my eye on you?! You disappeared!" I snarled at the demon.
"Maybe you should get your eyes accustomed to fast moving objects. I didn't disappear," Alastair chuckled, removing his hand from my neck.
"Whatever," I groaned, rolling my eyes.
"Next rule. Don't leave yourself open," As he said this his hand wrapped around my waist, his other one under my leg. He pulled my leg out from under me and I would have fallen if not for his arm around my waist. He laid me gently on the ground, crawling on top of me.
"You're lucky you didn't let me fall," I grumbled, blowing a piece of my hair out of my face.
He cracked another devilish grin, placing his hands on my hips.
"Wh-what are you doing?" I squirmed under him, looking around for something to get him off me.
"Don't let yourself become distracted by anything. Especially not your opponent doing something like this. It is a good tactic if you can use it," He shrugged, moving my face so that I was looking back at the black haired demon.
"I wasn't distracted, I was trying to look for something to hit you with," I stated calmly, "I don't think creepily touching someone is a good way to win a fight."
"No, maybe not for you. Perhaps seduction would work better." Another goddamn smirk.
"I think I'll pass," I rolled my eyes once again. I don't know why I get so irritable around Alastair, I just do.
"To go through the the rest of them quickly- don't you go forgetting these either. Don't turn your back on your enemy, don't start a fight if you know you'll fail, use your surroundings to your advantage, try to knock them off balance as soon as possible and finally let them underestimate your abilities," He got off of me, holding his hand out for me to take.
"Is that all of them?" I reached out, grabbing his hand. With a small tug that looked like it barely required any effort I was pulled to my feet, now standing inches away from Alastair.
A single nod of his head gave me his answer.
"Great. Now what?" I twirled a piece of my hair in between my fingers.
"Now we fight."
"You really expect me to fight you?" I snickered, amused by the situation.
Me fighting against a demon. Yeah, right. I couldn't even keep track of where he was.
"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you," The amount of smugness in his voice was alarming.
"Hmph, fine, this isn't going to end well for me. I can admit when I'm at a disadvantage," I shrugged, taking a few steps back.
"Good, I'm glad you're at least willing to try," Alastair chuckled darkly, knowing very well how this would end.
Even though the odds were against me I knew that I had to train somehow, and there's no one else to train me. So Alastair was my only choice. It was him or I stay a pathetic weakling forever. Which isn't what I wanted at all.
He started by running at me, he wasn't as fast as before. Like he said, he was going easy on me. So because of that he was going at the average speed a normal person would be going. It still didn't help me block him from getting his arms under my legs and knocking me over. Within seconds he was on top of me, my arms pinned against the blades of grass.
"That didn't last long," I tried to pull my hands from his but to no avail.
"I didn't expect it to," He smirked down at me, "I'm going to show you how to get out of this situation. It's the easiest thing to start with."
"Fine," I huffed, stopping the struggle I was making against him.
"It's fairly simple. There's two ways you can do this. One is by wrapping your legs around my waist and using all of your strength to turn us around so that you're on top. Second, use your knee and, well... Knee the person where the sun doesn't shine," He chuckled.
I tried doing the first one but he was much too strong. I could barely even budge him by a centimetre. Let alone flip him over completely. Not like I expected to be able to do so anyways.
"You really don't need to try the second way," He got up off me, brushing off his black pants.
"Now then. We really need to work on your strength. Give me thirty push-ups," He commanded, as if he was a drill sergeant of some sort.
"Excuse me?" I raised one of my brows at him.
"You heard me. You're already on the ground. Just give me thirty push-ups, it shouldn't be that hard."
I grumbled, turning myself around. Once I was ready I began to do as he had asked, though I'm not sure why. I'm not supposed to be the one following orders like this, yet I am.
Ten... Eleven... Twelve...
So far it was quite easy, which surprised me. I didn't think I'd make it past six, maybe seven.
Twenty-three... Twenty-four... Twenty-five...
I was still going strong at this point, feeling the muscles in my arms tighten with each drop of my body.
"Very good. I'm not surprised," Alastair clapped his hands together once I was standing back up.
"Well I am," I chuckled, scratching the back of my neck.
"You shouldn't be," Alastair stared at me seriously, "You have more strength than you would think. You just have to want it badly enough."
"You don't think I want it badly enough? I sold my soul to get stronger. That's ridiculous," I waved the thought off with a swipe of my hand in the chilly air.
"You may think you want it, just like you may think you want your memories. Just like that, you really don't want them and that's what's keeping you from having it and remembering," Alastair declared cockily, as if he knew my life story or something.
"Can you please shut up?! Seriously, you think I don't know what I want?! I would die to know who my parents are and why they gave me up! I clearly would even go to the lengths of selling my soul to get stronger for master Ciel and the others so why on earth are you still doubting me?!" I screeched, grabbing at the roots of my hair and pulling slightly, making it clear how distressed I was becoming.
"Because I know you, (Y/N). Better than you think. Better than you know yourself. It wasn't a coincidence that I was the demon who found you. A silly wish like yours wouldn't even attract a desperate demon. I've been watching you for quite some time. Just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike and make you mine. Waiting for you to be desperate enough to give into the darkness. Let's be honest, all of that wasn't just for Ciel and the others. It was for you," He spoke with such confidence, it irked me terribly as he continued on, "You know that something isn't right in that manor. You wanted to be stronger to protect yourself. When push comes to shove, you're the minority in there. Who better to trust than yourself in a time of need?" He took a step closer, winding his arms around my waist, "At least, that was until me. You may not trust me now but you will, in time. We are bound together, my dear. I've sworn to protect you, and protect you I shall. Don't you go forgetting who your soul belongs to."
I shivered in his grasp, fumbling with words. I was absolutely speechless, without a clue what to say. He got me. I don't know how, but he did. I knew every single thing he was saying was true but I didn't want to admit it aloud.
I bit down on my bottom lip, confused as to how he knew me in such a depth. Knowing things that even I didn't dare think about or admit to myself. Not until he mentioned them anyways.
Apparently I bit too hard on my lip because within seconds I felt a piercing pain, causing me to flinch and try to raise my hand, as to wipe the blood away. Only to find my arms held down to my side by Alastair as he stared at me with... Longing? Hunger?
It was the way you'd look at a large meal if you hadn't eaten in weeks.
Without warning he moved his head forward, licking the blood from my bottom lip. I tried to back away or even just scream for him to get off but I was frozen in my place, unaware of what to do.
His tongue felt warm against my lip as it lapped up my spilled blood. He slowly pulled away, showing me his now magenta eyes. I gulped, scared that he would try to take my soul right then and there.
Alas, he did not. Instead he released me, backing away slowly.
He licked his lips, smirking, as his eyes flickered back to their normal red and black, "Glad that we agree."
I realized that he was talking about his previous statement, instead of confronting what he had just done.
Does that count as a kiss? God, if it does I'm going to be so mad! I've never even had my first kiss and if that was it... Someone will have hell to pay.
"Y-yeah..." I turned away, looking back towards the trees that I came through to get here.
"You're confused?" Alastair asked, but it sounded more like a rhetorical question than his asking.
"A little bit, yes," I turned back to him, the sun blinding me slightly as it rose over the trees.
"That's alright. You'll understand eventually," He moved a hand through his hair, staring into my eyes.
I quickly looked away, trying to escape his stare, "I really should be getting back. I'm expected by my young master soon and... I mustn't be late. I'll, um, make sure to do more strength gaining exercises. Thanks for today. I guess," I mumbled, still trying to find the right words to use.
How is one supposed to treat their demon? Am I being too cold? Too nice? They should really give you a handbook for this type of stuff.
"Of course. You really shouldn't be late. Farewell, (Y/N)," And with that he was gone, running off to who knows where.
With a sigh I turned my body around, heading back towards the mansion. The home that I truly was scared of.
I don't really belong... Do I? I'm the odd one out, they barely even know me. I'm nothing to them, they probably wouldn't care if I was hurt during one of Ciel's cases...
Either way... I still have to repay them. I still owe Ciel my life. I still need to put them first. No matter what ends up happening to me. They are my reason to live now.
Maybe I can make a real home here... Maybe... Maybe I can be happy... For once. I have a chance.
Without really noticing it I had walked all the way back to the edge of the estate, staring at the garden before me. I noticed newly planted trees as well as some spots of dirt that appeared to have been dug up. There was also flowers planted in the ground that had already been grow from a pot.
Alastair... Dammit, this is my job!
I shook my head lightly, admiring the job well done. Though he is a demon, he's pretty damn good at everything it seems. I just hope no one from the manor saw him... That would cause me a lot of trouble that I really don't know how to explain. Even if I did know how to explain it, I don't think I would want to. Who knows how they would react. With the tray of tea that Sebastian had handed off to me- after bumping into him in the hall again- I made my way all the way to Ciel's study, to discuss our plans for the night.
Hopefully it wouldn't be so bad tonight. I'm sure it can't get much worse from what happened last night- now that, was truly a nightmare. I don't want to think about what would have happened if Alastair hadn't been watching.
Ciel called me into his study mere seconds after my knuckles hit the strong wood to knock, disrupting whatever it was he was previously doing.
To my surprise, once I walked in the room I saw Sebastian standing with the most smug expression, right beside Ciel's desk. Smirking at me. Even though not even a minute ago he handed me his tea tray and told me to bring it up.
How they hell did he get here before me? Why couldn't he have just taken it with him? I swear, this man is unreal.
