"I think we should start by testing out some of your other skills," Alastair seemed to be holding something behind his back.
"What do you mean by that?" I tried to peer behind his back, he helped by pulling his hands out, holding a collection of knives, "What am I doing with those?"
"Throwing them, of course. At me," He smirked.
"Are you sure that's wise?" I folded my arms over my chest, eyeing the knives closely. There was no way I would be able to not hit him. He could always dodge I suppose. That would defeat the purpose of me aiming though, wouldn't it?
"No. However, I'm a demon so no matter what you do I'll be fine, sorry dear, you can't get rid of me that easily," he chuckled, throwing the knives down on the ground in front of me and walking over to a tree that he decided to stand in front of.
"You couldn't have just passed them to me?" I sighed, leaning down and grabbing the knives. I threw the first few and of course, each of them missed. They didn't even hit the tree.
"You can do better than that, this is just sad. If I knew this is how determined you were I would have left you al-" I cut him off by throwing a knife at his face, and it would have hit him too if he didn't grab it, "That's better. You do so much better when you're upset, don't you?" Another one between the eyes, he caught it again, "Show me that you're not a pathetic human, that you aren't wasting my valuable time!" Another one, at his chest this time. Caught again. he didn't flinch once, "That's it, show me your anger."
I finished throwing the rest of the knives and they all hit their target. Of course he caught them all. That cursed smirk on his face is what kept me going, he was so right. When I was mad or upset I clearly did better. Evident in my fight against the thief the other day too.
"Excellent. If you ever have to aim for anything just think about something that angers you," He sassed.
"Like you?"
"Yes, but like it or not that will not stop me from staying with you," He was right beside me, eyeing me up and down, "Until you're devoured."
"Yes, I get it. What next?"
"Laps, your favourite. Followed by target practice with a bow, then some basic strength exercise," The demon clearly wanted to get back at me for missing so many days.
"Is this because I didn't do this for a few days?" I sighed.
"Of course, you have to make up for your lost time. Now start running," He instructed.
I don't know how long I was out there but the sun was behind the trees and I knew dinner would be ready soon, thankfully I was also finished with the training. Using the bow was actually a lot easier than expected and I seemed to be a natural at it. I didn't even have to get mad, unlike with the knives. I parted ways with Alastair and made my way back to the manor, spotting Finny sitting on a bench on my way inside.
"Oh, (Y/N)! I didn't know you were out here too, what were you doing?" Finny turned his attention to me from the birds above rather quickly.
"I was just looking around, it's rather nice today. I could use the fresh air and quiet after being stuck inside all day, you know?" I smiled, "I should be going inside, I assume Sebastian almost has dinner ready by now," I said goodbye to Finny and headed inside through the back door, bumping into Mey-Rin along the way.
"(Y/N)! Sebastian wanted me to find you, he's in the kitchen," Mey-Rin quickly led me there before leaving to do her duties, trying to do them I suppose.
