For once the day started normally. I was awoken by Alastair who would now be acting as my butler. He was quite happy about that, as it meant he could 'keep a closer eye on his meal' as he so adequately put it. Not to mention we could train now without having to hide it. Ciel had a meeting later at six and wished for me to join him for dinner. He had been busy all day with dance lessons, which I found rather amusing. Even as a noble he wasn't very skilled with his feet.
After breakfast I found the office Sebastian had allowed me to have and got right to work, it didn't take me too long to finish all my paperwork so Alastair came in as my tutor. We had English and history lessons, following by fencing, which I was surprisingly good at, and then finished with music. I had played the piano when I was younger so it wasn't very hard to get back into.
"You should go find Sebastian and make sure he's doing fine with the other servants," I was at my desk with a cup of tea in hand.
"I'm sure he can handle it, my lady," Alastair had done well at adjusting to the new role, being less of a pervert than he had before. He had to be much more professional, especially around people. In private he was still the same demon I signed with in the first place. I had to wonder if Sebastian was the same.
"You may be right about that, however, those servants are what I'm worried about. Our guests should be arriving soon and everything must go smoothly."
"Very well, I shall see if he needs anything," Alastair left, leaving me to ponder what I should do now that I was finished all my work. I settled on reading a book until I was called to dinner.
I had entered the room just as Sebastian started pouring champagne in a pyramid of glasses. Quite the sight.
"Good evening, everyone," I smiled, walking up to Ciel's side.
"Oh, would this happen to be your betrothed?" The man, who I was told went by the name Randal, asked us. Ciel and I both had red faces as I feverishly shook my hands.
"Nothing like that, no! I'm just his partner," I laughed nervously. The two demons in the room were smirking at us. Cocky bastards.
"If you'll excuse me master, I have the d'oeuvres," Mey-Rin entered, I could see her shaking from where I stood. I was about to offer to help her but I was too late as she tripped and threw the tray at the tower. My mouth dropped in shock as I waited for the sound of glass breaking but that didn't happen. Instead I saw the demons working together, catching the glasses at an inhuman speed and catching the liquid inside the cup. They looked so... graceful. It was amazing to see, to be quite honest. They stacked the cups again and managed to catch the wine bottle and food Mey-Rin dropped, thanks to Sebastian. Alastair stood by the champagne tower, grinning down at me as if he wanted me to give him a pat on the back.
"So, what just happened?" Randal asked, clearly confused
"Please pardon me, dear gentlemen, this particular vintage is a bit on the bubbly side so I made the last minute decision to give it a nice shaking," Sebastian told us to sit down as Mey-Rin fled.
Ciel and I were both seated at one end of the table, "My lord, I must say, your manor provides no end of surprises. It's simply beautiful, I can hardly believe it was in ashes three years ago," Randal seemed to be a kiss ass.
"I find small talk dreadfully dull," Saw that coming, "Let's move on to the business at hand."
"In the interest of sustained profitability I'd like my company to begin marketing to children," Randal began. I sat with my head resting in my hand, looking dreadfully bored as the man continued with his business talk. My eyes flickered over to Lau who was feeding Ran-Mao using his fork.
