Chapter 18 part 2

Missing Tribe Mission

For hours we rode on our horses and took five mintue breaks. Within every break we had we'd check up on the map to make sure we were on the right path. Mainly we had to find the Swift River in the forest near the mountains, that river would lead us straight to the ocean.

In our next break we all stopped to have a quick meal.

"Kai, your not hungry? I hope you know we still have a long way to go." I nagged him because I knew he'd be complaining about it later.

"Cheoki, do you think mother, father and Hanto will be okay?" He looked down at his bread.

"Everyone's going to be alright. Father is wise and strong, he has led the tribe through even tougher times than this. We must have faith even when things aren't looking so good." I patted his back and got up from my seat.

Connie and Sasha moved over to my brother and tried to show him a trick to cheer him up. It was a good thing to have because within a minute he was smiling again. I walked over to Erwin who was looking through the map once again.

"We're going the right way, don't worry." I looked over his shoulder.

"Well, at least we're by the mountains, now all we need to find is the river. How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine but really I should be asking you that."

"Losing an arm is nothing, I was with people who I care about but you, you've been away from home for a long time. Also cause I can feel you hands trembling when your holding the reigns." he chuckled.

"Well, I did cause the destruction of my people and ran away from it all. I guess I'm scared to see what they'd think of me, considering the fact that the marriage will be off but..."

"He's strongest soldier we've ever seen, I'm sure he'll be fine." he smiled as he ruffled my hair.

"My father told me that too much power can drive a man to do reckless things."

"Your father sounds like a wise man, why would he force this marriage? He must have sense that it wouldn't work out."

"We were desperate but now I know that I can protect everyone. I now have the power to destroy anyone who comes in our path. The hard part is telling them."

"I agree. Maybe it'll be best to tell these two before we actually run into the whole tribe."

"I guess so." I sighed

"Maybe next break, we have to keep moving before it gets dark."

"Don't worry, we may be blind innthe light but our hearing heightens at night. We can navigate you guys easily." I smiled and left to tellt he others that we'll be moving out.

When Erwin mounted his horse I hopped on right behind him and told the horse to move on. In the next 3 hours we were able to see a forest right next to the mountain's base. We moved in right when ghe sun had begun to set.

The forest was oddly too quiet, usually there were a couple of titans running around here. But then I heard a soft thudding sound in the distance. I looked back at Kai and Hima who were already drawing their weapons.

"Something's coming! Move faster, now!" I warned the rest as they all spurred their horses to start running. Behind us there were two titans running behind us.

"Rear group be ready to change to your 3D Manuevers!" Erwin yelled back. The three people in the back switched their gears and abandon their horses right when the titan stepped on them. The rear then went ahead and tried to slice their neck.

" Hima, Kai shoot their eyes!" I ordered. Hima and Kai stood up on their horses and shot the eyes of the titans. The titans began to scream and run into trees.

From it's echoing voice, I sensed that more titans will be on their way. I looked up at Erwin, anticipating for his next orders.

"How many more do you think are on their way?"

I closed my eyes and tried to ignore all other sounds. I concentrated on the loud thumping sound, it seemed as though it be about four or three more coming.

"My guess is three or four. At this point we must abandon the horses, the river is deepnin the forest and all we're doing is following an open trail." I looked too our side and noticed a titan staring at us from afar.

"Everyone abandon the horses and head up the trees!" he yelled.

"Yes sir!" Everyone switched to their 3D gear and hung on the trees. From that point on we swung from branch to branch as we tried to hide in the deep green of the trees.

We rested for a while on a branch. But then I heard the sound of splashing, I moved more to the left where the sound got louder.

"Cheoki!" Erwin called but he wasn't able to move after me since I had to beside him to help him move with his gear.

"I hear the water!" I ran back over and then led everyone to the sound. Right in front of us was a river with a fast flow of water and herd of deers surrounding it. I drew my arrow back and aimed for the male of it's herd.

"I guess we'll take a more proper break, now that we have real food."
