Chapter 27 part 2

I woke up to the smell of fish cooking and the sound of fire crackling. My eyes slowly crack open to the heavenly light from the sun. Though many branches were in our way, the small holes of loght was still lovely. I looked up and noticed that Levi was still asleep.

His arms were dead and wrapped around me. His face seemed very peaceful when he slept. His breaths were long and made a slight sound like the wind. Scattered around us were rich green leaves. I slowly moved my arm to sweep away the leaves in his hair.

From my slightest touch, his eyes began to slowly pry open. His dark blue eyes roamed around the scenery. When our eyes met, he slowly drifted back to sleep.

"What time is it?" he grumbled.

"I'm not sure but I can hear them making food. I guess they just started making breakfast." I petted his hair.

He pulled me closer and with my other arm extended out, he used it as a pillow. I could feel his breaths slowing down again and finally the soft snores came out. I leaned over and softly kissed his lips. Seeing that he fell into a deep sleep, I carefully crawled out of his grip. I tip toed back inside the cave and fetched him a light blanket. I laid it over him and kissed his forehead before I head down for food.

The morning guards were up and ready to go hunt. The day wakers had already prepared a meal and were already washing the clothes. I went over to get a fish scewed on a stick. Watching over the food was Hanto and Kai.

"How long was I asleep?" I asked taking a bite out of the tail.

"A little longer than usual. Father is resting right now and mother is out in the beach fetching some shells." Hanto answered as he turned over a half cooked fish.

"Shouldn't you be asleep, Kai?" I looked over at his sleepy eyes, which barely kept themselves open.

"He wanted to watch Hanji, Armin and Annie take off. Now he claims he's hungry." Hanto snickered.

"I'll take him back." I laughed and pulled up his body, but instead of lifting him as I always did I fell down instead. The weight of his body was actually hurting me.

Hanto immediately got up and help pull him off of me.

"You okay?" he helped me up.

I stumbled on my feet trying to regain my balance. Once I stood still my head felt like it was swaying. It gave me a really bad headache.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied.

"The sooner we get the medicine the better. Don't worry about Kai, I'll get him to bed. Just keep watch over the food." Hanto heaved Kai's body on his shoulder and went off into the cave.

I sat there quietly, wondering what was happening to me. I touched my knee and felt a bruise already forming.

"Cheoki! You're finally awake! Would you please help me with these sacks!? You'd have no idea how much crabs and oysters I found!" Mother cried with a huge smile on her face. It really has been a while since we had shell food.

I tried to pull myself up but it was no use, after all my efforts I still fell on my face. My mother dropped all her bags and ran up to me. She lifted me up and turned me over.

"Cheoki, what's wrong? Come on, speak!" her voice quivered.

"I-I'm tired." I breathed

"Don't worry I'm getting help." Mother reached for her howler and franticlly began to blow on it.

My vision blurred but I was able to see shadows of everyone surrounding me. When my eyes had finally closed all I could do is listen to the voices.
