ABN (Very Bad do not read this!!) (NANOWRIMO 2013)

Chapter 10

We sat at the table being entertained by a small band for a few hours after we had finished eating.

Notari leaned against my shoulder as we both fought to stay awake to watch them play on strange instruments that made the most beautiful sounds.

“I take it your enjoying yourselves?” A strange voice chuckled from my right.

I turned and looked at a man with yellow eyes like the sun, a burning image flared in my mind of dancing with him.

Smiling I raised my hand to point at him, “You wore the cloud mask!” I exclaimed.

He nodded his head and bowed graciously at the waist, “My name is Skylar, most call me Sky. I am going to be your guard per orders of your new master.” He said walking over and crouching down at the right end of the table.

“Really? What’s his name again, I forgot?” I murmured tilting my head to the side.

Sky laughed softly and shook his head tossing around light white hair, “Nice try, your clever. He gave specific instructions not to give you his name yet, something about that being the final latch that would bind you two together.”

I shrugged my shoulders and sighed heavily, “Fine, then tell him I’m just going to call him Adam.” Sky’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“Why would you do that?”

“Because it’s confusing when I have to talk around the awkward emptiness of his name.” I blathered too tired to care, I had gotten nearly no sleep last night and I had a horrible feeling tonight would be a nasty recurrence of it.

“Shh, I’m trying to sleep.” Notari moaned slowly sliding down into my lap.

Skylar looked from her to me and grinned warmly, “Are you two tired?” He asked shuffling closer to the table.

I nodded my head wearily, “I don’t think either of us got any sleep in a while. I hope tonight though Notari can at least get some rest.” I said petting her tightly waved hair.

“What about yourself?” He asked grabbing a cup and filling it with a dark red tea, the glass was a see through teacup.

“Adam probably has other plans…” I said fighting off a yawn.

Skylar raised his glass up looking over the edge of it at me, his striking yellow eyes were not normal to me. I wanted to ask him to remove his contact lenses but they just seemed so real.

“I’ll have a chat with Adam,” he winked as he used my codename, “And see if he’ll let you two get some sleep.”

I perked instantly, “You can do that?” I whispered.

He chuckled and took another sip of the tea, “Trust me, I’m very good at convincing people. Although you may have to rest with him in the bed with you, He seems to have taken a keen liking-.” I turned around lifting my hair up flashing the burn mark that was now just a neat scar on the back of my neck.

Skylar’s voice faded away and I heard his cup slam onto the table.

“This is why he’s so obsessive with me. He said, after he branded me with it, that I was his mind body and soul.” I dropped my hair and turned to look back at him.

Shock was plain on his face, his yellow eyes had gone wide and his jaw hung open. Obviously he hadn’t been informed of this.

“Is something the matter Skylar?” The deep velvet rumble of Codename: Adam’s voice made me shiver.

Skylar straightened and pushed to his feet, “Why did you brand her, thought she was the wrong girl?” He hissed leaning in closer to Codename-Adam’s face.
