The second one was a red dress with bulk strapped deep v-neck line, with tight fitting skirt down to a flared lace hem. It fit nicely and made me feel pretty and less like a prostitute. There was still residual prostituness feeling but it was lessened.
He had the full lace dress folded neatly in his one hand, the other arm was linked in mine as we walked out of the front area of the Inn.
It was set up like one of those olden times inns with the fireplace, round wooden tables, mismatched chairs and even a bar. The woman behind it smiled and waved as she cleaned mugs in a sink filled with dingy soap bubbles.
The curtains were drawn back exposing the outside road, it was just well trodden dirt. But it was what was on the other side that made my breath catch. I stepped outside the door and instantly I wanted to run around the large square carriages that stood in front of me.
“Stay here I need to go and speak with the coach.” Damien said placing his hand on my back before slipping away around the front of the carriage.
I looked up at the sky and smiled, the clouds were dashed with deep oranges, light pinks and purple hues. The sky was a swirling pool of deep blue green, like the ocean. I began to step to the side glancing out behind the square into the forest.
The trees were gnarled but the colours were straight of a child’s book. There were purple, green, pink, blue, red, tree’s leaves, and moss everywhere.
It was like a rainbow had vomited out this beautiful array of colour. It wasn’t gawdy and the colours all went together, some were darker than other but they all fit.
Straightening myself back out I turned my head up and watched two large birds circle chasing one another in the current. I loved the way the world felt in the light.
“beautiful” I whispered.
“It is isn’t it?” I glanced to Damien who now stood on my right.
I nodded my head, something dark caught my eye to the left, and I turned and had to rub my eyes just in case I was seeing things. Only a few meters from where we stood was a hazy wall of a pure and utter darkness.
“Is that real?” I asked turning back to look at him.
He nodded crossing his arms over his chest, “It’s the gate we had to pass through to get here. We’ll be going back in to travel up along the road. The Abyss Tundra is up the road.” My shoulders dropped and I looked at the sky again.
“Can’t we stay here?”
“No, we need to get to my father. The Ball is over and we have to go home now.”
Rolling my eyes I turned and looked at him, “For you to go home.”
“Don’t start with this again.”
“It never stopped.”
He groaned, “Behave yourself.”
“Why? It won’t benefit me in anyway.” I snapped.
His arm wrapped around my waist and he turned to face me as he pulled us together, “It will, trust me Lamb.”
“Stop calling me that.” I pouted my bottom lip at him.
“Lamb to the slaughter.” He sighed shaking his head.
“I hate you with a burning passion.”
He chuckled nodding his head, “I know I feel that passion when I touch you.”
I wanted to head-butt him do something violent and out of character to him just so he would stop it, I got the fact that I was just some helpless little virgin minded girl. I couldn’t help who I was, but I didn’t need him throwing that at me every time we started arguing.
