He was right as usual, I slept like the dead. His arms had somehow snaked around my stomach pinning me against his back as he spooned me in his sleep.
I stared across the bed of furs at the opening in the fabric, it was just nearing dawn from the light that was beginning to warm the room. Maids had come in minutes before and cleaned up what little mess there was to clean up.
My fingers traced over heavy scars that laced back and forth over his arms, they each read a story. I didn’t know the story but I could make up some pretty epic shit that he did in order to earn each single one.
His breath was warm on the nape of my neck, but it was steady and sleep heavy. I should really wake him up. I thought as I ran my hands up his arm unable to roll over and continue on my little adventure through Damien’s life.
“What are you doing?” He asked shifting around a little.
“Nothing.” I said pulling my hands away quickly.
He laughed sleepily nodding his head, “Of course it was nothing. How long have you been awake?” He sat up unwrapping his arms from my stomach.
I was able to sit up now and stretch, “Um, well I watched maids come in and then the sun started to rise.” I said pointing to the gap.
“Ah, early riser. Naturally, I hate mornings.”
I scowled at him over my shoulder, “Mornings are not that bad.” I hissed.
He stopped stretching and looked at me with a raised eyebrow, his green eyes mocking me. “For me they’re hell, Shall I regale you with my routine?” He asked in overly dramatic tone.
It made me snicker but I nodded my head, “Sure why not.”
“Wake up at dawn, go to breakfast. Discuss current day issues with my father, come back to my room study. Then I get to do write up this year’s total taken, to the years before. After I get to go into the market and patrol until noon.”
“Then you come back eat lunch and start doing forms and writing things up again right?” I finished for him.
He nodded his head running his hands through his shoulder length brown hair, “Do something amusing to help wake me up.” He barked the order playfully almost.
I sat on the bed staring at him, “Yeah right, I’m not your slave.”
He grinned and moved back across the bed, I didn’t realise what he was doing until it was too late. His fingers began to tickle at my rib cage and it caused me to burst into a fight of painful laughter. I forgot that he had figured out all my ticklish spots.
“D-D-D-Dee, Stop!” I laughed as I tried to pull away his hands.
“It’s ridiculous how ticklish you are.” He laughed smoothing his hands out along my sides instead of tickling me.
I let out a long sigh and relaxed, I was not a fan of being tickled. I don’t think anybody was. He found it amazing that I was ticklish.
“I hate you, so much.” I hissed as he sat me back up.
“But I’m so soft and lovable.” He rolled his eyes.
I heard the doors grind open followed by the heavy footsteps into the room, Damien froze he quickly tossed a blanket at me and wrapped it around my shoulders. The curtains flew back and I stared up wide eyed at his father, he looked from me to his son then back again.
“Surprising, she is still alive. Come son, we have much to discuss.” He turned and walked away.
I glanced at Damien and frowned, “You stay here, and I’ll send Notari and Joko in to see you while I’m at breakfast.” He said rising and walking off the bed.
