I sat stunned on the edge of the bed, I was pregnant… This really was a nightmare. The more I thought about my reality the more I wanted to tear my hair out in denial.

“Sam noticed it as well, Dee probably knows on a subconscious level he just isn’t aware of it yet.”

“Wait Sam? Samhain? That dick’s father knows.” Notari scoffed.

“He knew the minute he saw her.”

My hands tightened into fists in my lap, “I can’t tell him.” I hissed through my teeth.

“Like hell you can’t tell him. You’re carrying his heir, he should slap a ring on your finger and praise you to the heavens.” Joko snapped slapping her hand onto the table top.

“I’m not the woman he wants though, he wants Laya. I’m not her, just a cheap stand in.” My jaw clenched and I stared at my lap.

Joko rose to her feet moving to stand in front of me, I could see her hands flexing. I waited for her to slap me and get it over with but she didn’t.

“Obviously you aren’t just some cheap stand in. I watched that kid grow up, I know what’s going on in his head. He’s serious about you, not in the normal human way. But he wants to keep you around for as long as he can. That’s something new for him.” She sighed crouching down.

“I’m just some Hallowfier, he doesn’t care.”

“You are carrying his heir. That’s pretty freaking big, he’ll care about that. I’m sorry Asha, but you won’t find love, we can’t love it physically is impossible for us. But he can watch out for you, he can protect you.”

“No, I have to get away.” I said shaking my head.

She grabbed my shoulders and gave me a rough shake, “Do not deny that man his child!”

“But it’s mine as well!” I screamed back at her.

Notari stared at me with sad eyes, “I hate to say this Ash, but he does deserve to know.”

“No! He doesn’t, what has he done for me to deserve anything.”

“Goddamnit! Do you seriously think you can raise a child on your own! It won’t be human, this pregnancy won’t be natural. You need his help if you want to survive this, if you want the child to survive.” Joko shouted standing up.

Notari’s eyes narrowed at me and I tried to avoid eye contact with her, “You do want the baby to survive don’t you?”

I made the mistake of glancing at her and she caught my eyes, “Why bring a child into a world like this, I wanted to have a family with somebody that actually cared about me! Not some sick and twisted Demon who cheated me out of that life.”

Joko turned around to look down at me her hands on her hips, “Sometimes life deals you a crap hand, but it’s the only hand you have. So fucking play it, you never know he could turn out to be a great father.”

“Or he could reject me even further and make my life a living hell.”

“If he does that I’ll take custody of you and the child and he’ll never see you again.” Joko snapped tossing her arms out to her sides.

The idea was promising, but still 17 and pregnant my mom would kill me if she knew. I looked down at my stomach and felt my gut churn. Dear god please don’t let her be right.

“I have to inform your parents.” My head snapped up to stare at Joko.

“My parents? No, you have to be joking!” I shouted standing up.
