I was nudged awake gently, my eyes slowly cracked open and light streamed through the crack of the curtain. I winced sitting up in bed, my head felt like it was about to explode, then again that’s how I always felt after bawling my eyes out for hours on end.
“Eat something, your weak.” Damien nudged my shoulder.
Rolling my eyes I looked down at the platter of fruits and now vegetables, “Are you Vegan or something?” I hissed looking back at him.
“Let’s start with simple things, the meat here can make people ill if they aren’t used to it.” He sighed reached forward and grabbing a bright yellow carrot like thing off the platter, its long vine leaves crinkled in his hand.
“Why not just start with the meat? How will I build up any kind of immunity?”
“Just eat Belle, it will make you feel better. We’ll be back on the road soon and won’t be stopping until we arrive at my home. There won’t be time to eat.”
I grabbed a grape like piece that felt like a peach, I went to pop it in my mouth but his hand pressed over my lips.
“That’s bitter, you don’t like bitter.” He took the grape from my hand and tossed it back onto the cart. He then grabbed a snap pea shaped thing that was the color of tulips, “Try this it’s sweet without being overpowering.”
I took it and bit down feeling the warm sweet juice gush forward into my mouth, “Oh my god that’s delicious.” I murmured covering my mouth.
“I was right.”
“Shut up.” I hissed popping the rest of it in my mouth, then I didn’t want to eat.
Placing my hands over my stomach I winced, that shouldn’t be right I should be starving right now. A little snow pea thing wasn’t enough.
“What’s wrong?”
“Is there something wrong with me?”
His eye brows furrowed and he moved over to sit beside me, “You’re healthy as far I’ve seen.”
“I should be hungrier though, shouldn’t I?” I whispered looking at him.
Licking my dry lips I looked earnestly at the platter trying to will myself to eat but there was a full cramp in my stomach telling me I was done.
“Your body won’t function the way it used to here. Here it is not your human raised side that is called to. A lot of the parts that make you not human will show up as well. People barely eat here.”
I just gawked at him, how could he live like that. Never having to be hungry? What else did they get to miss out on? Music?
“Relax, now come and change. In about half an hour we’ll be on the road again heading for the castle. You’ll need to get dressed properly.” He got up and walked away into the closet leaving me sitting in front of the big platter of now wasted food.
“Wait what do you mean properly? Can’t I wear this?” I asked getting up finding my legs working much better of a good night of fitful sleeping the arms of a man that pissed me off. Oddly twisted wasn’t it? He ducked out and looked me up and down.
“No, My father will smell the heady scent of not only yours but my arousal from earlier.” He said stepping back out with a full lacy dress.
My face emptied of all heat, no way in hell was he getting me into it.
“Don’t make that face you have to Asha.”
“Nu-uh. Not unless I can wear underwear and a bra.” I shook my head backing away from him.
He stepped out with it and I watched the long sleeves, and saw the high collar of the dress with the floor length skirt.
It was black floral lace design very nice and elegant but it was see-through. I was not meeting his father technically naked. He set the dress down on the bed and looked at me crossing his arms over his chest.
“You smell like sex.” He smirked arrogantly.
“And whose fault would that be? Smart-ass.” I snapped turning away from him.
I glanced over at the dress and shuddered that was not what I was going to wear. He had to be screwing with me.
“Your body will not matter at dinner, so all may look but cannot touch.”
“You’re going to be fully dressed I bet, so why can’t I? It’s not fair.”
He groaned, “Life isn’t fair little Belle, Now get in the dress.”
“No.” I said in a sure tone.
His hand grabbed my arm and he spun me around, “Wear the dress Ashleigha, I will not ask again.”
“I refuse to wear something like, Prostitutes wear clothes like that. I don’t want to feel like a cheap whore.” I grumbled not looking up to meet his eyes.
“Asha, you are not a cheap whore. You have been with one man and only one man, here there are some skin tone underpants but that is the most I can give to you.”
“No! I’m not going to meet your father dressed like that.”
“This isn’t me bringing home the girl of my dreams to meet my father, you aren’t living up to any standards. You are just a food source, the dress will be appropriate and it’s not like he’ll check you out. Don’t flatter yourself.”
My hands clenched into tight fists, I hated him. I hated him so badly, god the feelings he put out contradicted. On one hand he’s saying I’m not a whore then he turns around and pretty much says I’m his whore.
“Fuck you.” I snapped at him through clenched teeth.
“Put the damn dress on Ashleigha.”
I levelled my stair with his and kept it there for a few seconds before he began to show signs of struggling. He grabbed my shoulders and shook me before pushing my back to the wall beside the window.
“Stop contradicting yourself, make up your mind.” I hissed at him.
His green eyes narrowed and I watched the vein in the middle of his forehead pulse, “I’ll find a red dress for you to wear this evening.” He sighed kissing the side of my neck lightly.
I groaned stomping my foot angrily, he was switching moods more than I did when I PMS. Still I liked this Damien more than the angry brooding one that I had met. The angry one that wouldn’t hesitate to hit me or even think twice.
“Thank you.”
“Wear the dress for me afterwards and it’s a done deal.” He whispered against my jaw.
I laughed nervously, “What’s gotten into you?”
“I want to indulge on you, and it’s very bad. But you will get used to dressing like the women in my culture, the more wealth and standing you have the less clothes you wear. The red dress will be only a fraction better than just plain lace.”
“If it covers my it’s and bits then I’m all for it.”
Anything but that damned dress, “So promise.” He hissed.
“Fine,” I sighed rolling my eyes, “I promise to wear the dress later. Wait in your dad’s castle?” No freaking way was he going to convince me to do it with him while his dad’s down the hallway.
“It’s also my home as well and don’t worry I have an entire wing sealed off for myself. You’ll be fine. Most likely you won’t leave the bedroom. Hell if I had the choice I wouldnt either.” He mumbled his hands grabbed my hips and holding me in place.
Of course the guy I find is the one that naturally pisses me off and in turn is then turned on by my anger, I would find that one guy.
“You still smell like lilies.”
