“There goes another week…” I woke up out of my bed and headed towards the bathroom. I looked at the mirror and saw myself. My blind eye always bothers me; what its purpose, Eye that are so blind about its true purpose, a purpose that is out there, but hard to achieve.
I washed my face again and then brushed my teeth, but I could not stop looking at myself, as I started to remember my dream again. The dream about the blossom that stood there. So many pedals on it. It may as well spread more of its beauty, but it did not; it chose to die and just die there.
Suddenly I got a knock on the door and it was Eve. Eve opened the door and greeted me. “Hey, are you ready to steal the book?”
“Stealing? Can’t you just take it?” I headed towards the kitchen and poured milk inside a glass. “Or Fiora is very strict with the book…”
“Exactly!” Eve said. She headed towards the couch and sat down. I offered her milk, but she refused. I finish my milk and sat down with her. Eve was staring at the book shelf next to the plasma television. “Such a huge t.v. Where you get it?”
“Well, I was a priestess…I think I afford it with the money that were hidden in this apartment. Angel helped me to this place, since I had no memories…it was my father’s, Angel told me.” I scratch my head as I try to remember that day. As I remembered the memory of finding this apartment, I started to tell.
Once the whole blood shed happened, I wondered around, checking up on everyone; everyone was obviously devastated that day from all the loss they have suffered. The tension died down after a few years, around when I was ten. During those times, people believed that evil was distorting the balance; Lady Saya and Lady Fiora’s faults, by the way, and it still does.
Within a few hours, I found Angel standing there, staring at the sky as it consumed the blue sky.
“I just walked by him and he grabbed my arm. He-he, I was scared, I thought he was a demon.” I added as I giggled.
“Because you had no idea who he was, right?” Eve asked. I did not know who he was, and I had my outburst again. I started to scream and yell out “demon!” He grabbed me and held me so hard. He was crying and repeated, “I’m so glad you’re ok…” Which convinced me I knew him, I knew him before my memory lost.
He then noticed I was hungry, wet, and all cut up; he knew I forgot where I lived, and so he brought me to the apartment I live in now.
“So your memories only reveals eight years of your friendship with Angel? And what is up with your outbursts?” Eve giggled.
“Everyone has their flaws and for me, it’s my sudden urge to not keep stuff bottled in.”
“I feel ya, Lady Saya says I’m nosy…”
“You are…” Eve made a face that made me laugh. I did not know what made me close to Eve already; we just met yesterday.
“So, during night time, we will sneak into Fiora’s room and steal the book. At night is when the guard’s numbers are lesser than during day time, but I’m still working on the details. We are not dealing with normal guards…they are demons…”
During the day time, the guards are all around the tower where Lady Fiora stays. Each station in each floor, armed with rifles, knives, and their demonic will. The tower is white and tall. It touches the dark sky with its sharp likeness; mirrors Fiora’s persona. In my opinion, it will take more than two of us to pull it off.
“We need more people to pull it off…” I doubted that the two of us can handle the guards. “Let’s gather some of the other Layevan’s students.” Eve agreed, and I put on my hoodie and my skinny red jeans and left. I walked outside in the city, where everyone was. First I spotted Seven; Seven is perfect for pulled this off. “Seven!”
“What do you want?” she asked as she bits on a cupcake.
“I need a favor from you…” Seven is skilled at assassination, but that is not what I primarily want her to do; I needed her lust for things. She is also fast and always agrees to sabotage Fiora.
“We need you to be part of the operation I’m pulling off.” Seven gave me a look.
“You, out of all people, want to risk something? You’re usually the one who always avoid things…”
“It’s to steal the last Book of Yeul.”
“Cool, we’re doing a robbery? I’m game!”
“Meet me by my apartment at eight.” I demanded. I walked away to search for someone else, but I wondered around. Everyone was just doing their everyday job. I ended up in the park again where I found people playing laughing, smiling, and a nice feeling. I stare at everyone from the benches. I see trees that are moved by the force of the wind. The wind blow because it’s part of the natural order? Or it just blows anything, just for the heck of it; no one knows.
I looked around to see if I knew anybody in the park. I walked and walked and haven’t seen anyone.
“Hey!” a girl taps me. I turn around and notice it was Juno, the girl who was in my archery class. I notice that Juno was wearing this brown trench coat with a black fedora. Her eyes are silver, and her skin is a bit tanned.
“Why are you wearing that?” I asked as I stare at her lollipop in her mouth.
She took out the lollipop and replied, “I always wanted to become a detective…And I’m good at it.” She released a huge smiled.
“Oh really, what do you find this time?” I doubted she had anything.
“I think I know where Grim headed…” I nodded my head, interested about what she was going to say. “There is another city up north…” I did not believe her.
“Never mind that, I need you for something…” I said as I study her expression.
“What?”
“I want to steal the Book of Yeul and I need your help, since you know how to kill from the shadows of the night.” Juno was a skilled assassin. She can handle a knife in such a graceful, but deadly, fashion that I admire since class.
I was shocked when she said, “Sure, I’ll help.”
“Just like that?” I replied. Her eyes became dark and were staring down.
“Anything to bring back our lost ideas…”
“Meet me by the apartment by eight.” She nodded her head and left, to get ready. I turned around a stare at the sun. It was about to be seven, which made me ran around, looking for everyone. Most of the people I found are students of Layevan.
Night have reached, and I started to head towards my apartment, but I was stopped by an arm that reach out for me.
“Deva…” Mira said from behind. “I want to help, I want to help you steal the Book of Yeul…” She said as she lets out a sob. I have not noticed Mira was following me every to know what I was up to, but she does not have anyone else. She cried, but for some reason I saw determination. Her eyes cried out determination. For a strange reason, I read her eyes again, and it shown vengeance.
“Why do you want to put yourself at risk?” I asked.
She slowly wiped her eyes and took out a pocket watch and showed me a picture, “To preserve my family’s legacy…I will bring back my great grandmother’s book.” She said as her feet stormed inside my apartment. I looked back and finally wanted to know more about her.
“The great granddaughter of Yeul…”
