I watched everyone from the window within a classroom. The room was empty with no students passing by in the hallways. This room was hollow like it was during the previous Purging. I felt as if the silence meant that day was to come sooner. The people seem to grow gloomier than before. This city, this place was soon to lose all of its happiness.
“Do I have what it takes to save these people?” I placed my hands around my heart and wished that I could pray, but could I? I’m a demon. I was born by the flames of hell with the purpose to kill. I regret what I’ve done in my past. I mostly regret that I couldn’t stop Fiora for she done to Eva.
“You’re still moping around?” A man said from behind. I turned around and noticed that the hooded man stood behind me.
“It’s nothing…”
“Are you sure about that? Aren’t you worried about something you have no clue about? It seems mysterious to you.” The hooded man sat on a desk.
“I have this feeling that the route holds something bad. I keep shivering when I think about it.” I shivered again at the thought.
The hooded man smiled as he got up from the desk. He slowly walked towards me and looked out of the window. “It is the chill of death. You are sensing death just like…” But then he faded away as soon as Mira came in.
“Eve! Can we go now?” She was impatient. Mira wanted to explore to a new area and wanted to see how the world was like outside of the walls of Purge Souls.
“No. We can’t just waltz right outside this place.”
“Ugh! How is Fiora going to track us down?” Her face became red.
“Same way how she noticed that Deva was gone, things got less dramatic. I’m afraid that is the reason why she getting closer to figuring out the Black Paladins.”
“Less dramatic? Wouldn’t she sense that it was her that was part of the attack on the tower?”
“That is what I’m expecting. My own sister knew I was part of it and shot me.”
Mira huffed and puffed. I wondered if Angel was this impatient to leave the city. He began to think that Deva went through there because it was near the cemetery and was tired of this city. It was mostly because he couldn’t stop thinking about her, his best friend. To be honest, I am jealous of that bond they share. It was unbreakable like the steel of a sword, it would take something more powerful to brake it. My love for him could be powerful to do such a thing, but I wouldn’t want that to happen. I care for Deva to, but still…
Mira also cared about Deva. She was like a mother to her. I always saw those two together, if I didn’t see her with Angel. I wonder why she was loved by so many people. She was just like her mother, Eva, sweet and caring, but Deva gave a more of a hostile vibe than Eva ever did. Maybe Deva got some of her father’s trait. I don’t know much about that man, I don’t know why it was a mystery still. Who was her father?
“Whatever…” Mira left the room like a child that didn’t get ice-cream.
Suddenly, the hooded man faded back in. “Are you a ghost?” I asked, but he didn’t answer.
“Just like her grandmother…” He silently said as he have observed our conversation.
“You know Yeul?” I asked, automatically turned my body around. I have forgotten that Mira was the granddaughter of Yeul, but Mira never mentioned any memory of Yeul.
“I know everyone and their life…” the hooded man said before he vanished out of thin air.
I looked back into the window and watched the city once more. The ocean looked beautiful, but it was missing it crystal shine. The beach looked plain, but during this warm weather, people usually crowded the beach. It was empty and it gave me a depressed feeling. I want the forgiveness of this city by restoring it back to Delaxy. Purge Souls, a name very true to its meanings. It was a city that purged the spirits of its people, and Fiora’s Purging was at fault.
Maybe, whatever was beyond the abandon route, maybe it would bring hope to this city. Maybe I could use it to restore this place. I regret everything I’ve done in the past.
“I must not delay this any longer! No matter if Fiora finds me! I must take a risk.”
I stormed out of the school and head towards the gate that closed off the route. Without hesitation, I called both Mira and Angel.
“About time!” Mira said over the phone.
After minutes of waiting, Mira was the first to arrive with her waist filled with knives. She had a sweater that hid her face. Angel arrive with his usual clothing on.
“What made you decide to finally go through this?” Angel asked. Mira stood in front of the large gate.
“I’m probably overthinking the risk…” I said, but suddenly I was cut off by a voice that frighten all of us, a voice that I never wanted to hear.
“What are you risking, Eve?” Fiora softly said with a face very frightening with a knife twirling around her fingers.
