Chapter Four

"I can't believe he's actually in town, maybe you can give Honesty her Father!!" My Mom exasperated.

"Mom, I didn't plan this to happen. He just showed up at the restaurant. He didn't even hardly notice Honesty." I tried to explain, since she thought I had set it up somehow. My Mother had the ability to jump to conclusions.

"Wait. If my grandbaby gets taken, I swear-" She started, but I cut her off.

"You think Louis would want to take Honesty away from me? Ha." I rolled my eyes, and sat back on the counter.

My Mom sighed, and when she opened her mouth to talk, her phone rang.

"Melody Crown speaking." She said in a very professional. My Mother worked as an agent for authors. I smiled at her, shrugging.

"Yes, we do offer art cover services if your entry is serious." She said, and rolled her eyes at me.

'Imma go get her ready for bed' I mouthed to her. She jerked her head, signaling for me to go. I walked out the room, and up the stairs. I came to her play room, where I was trying transition her to sleep, since she refuses to move out of my room. Maybe I could buy her a toddler bed and put it in my room...

I opened the cracked door completely, and peeked in. She was sitting on the floor, playing Barbies. She had one boy doll with brown hair, and the other girl doll with blonde hair. I watched her for a minute.

"Hi, Zoze. My name is Louis!" She said in a deep voice. My back stiffened, and I waited for her to finish.

"Hi Louis! My name is Zoze!" She said in a more squeaky voice, which I'm guessing is her interpretation of me. She made kissing noises, and bumped the dolls together.

"Honesty, don't." I said, walking over to her. She sighed, and put the dolls down.

"Sorry, Mommy." She said with a toothy smile. I titled my head, smiling.

"C'mon, time for bath." I said, digging in her drawers for her nighttime clothes.

"Can I wear my footsie jamas? It's cold in our room." She asked, looking up at me. I smiled, and dug out her footie pajamas.

We walked to the bathroom, but not before grabbing her favorite plush towel.

I ran the bathtub on warm water, then turned to her.

"Bubbles or no bubbles?" I asked.

"Whadda you think, squirt?" She asked, her little hands going to her hips. I laughed a little, and poured soap into the water for her bubbles

I placed her in the tub, and set up a baby monitor on the counter for her.

"I'm gonna set up the bedroom, don't get out, don't splash." I warned her as I walked out the room, leaving the door wide open.

I walked into my bedroom, and made the king size bed in the middle of the room.

I made sure to put her favorite kitty pillow right beside mine, and fold her blanket just the way she liked it. I pulled the purple comforter over her blanket, and I fixed my pillows.

I turned the CD player on and turned it down low, placing our favorite album in it. I closed the curtains, and cut her nightlight on her side of the bed.

Yes, my kid is spoiled, thank you. I smiled, and sprayed lavender air freshener. I walked back into the bathroom, and smiled.

"Granny! Come wash Honesty's hair for me while I clean her room!" I yelled down the stairs. I heard the floor shift, and my mom came up the stairs.

"Go clean, lazy. You just didn't wanna wash her hair." Mom rolled her eyes, I snickered a bit, and walked out the room as Honesty's hair was being lathered.

I picked up her toys and sat them neatly where they belonged, in all honesty I was just trying to keep my mind from wandering to Louis.

I smiled at the room, and cut the light off, shutting the door on my way out.

I walked into the bathroom, where Honesty was dressing and Mom was lightly blow drying her hair.

"Don't do it too much, just half dry." I notified her. She nodded her head, and continued drying Honesty's hair. I leaned against the doorframe, watching.

My mom cut the dryer off, and I smiled at the little girl.

"Goodnight, Granny." She kissed her granny on the nose, and my mom copied the gesture. I smiled, and we walked into the bedroom.

I got her nice and tucked in, and I grabbed my laptop, sitting it on the side table. I plugged in my phone, and lay down on top of the blankets.

Soon, she fell asleep. I kissed her forehead, and slowly edged out of bed.

I silently pulled my shower items from my drawers, and walked into the bathroom.

I showered quickly, singing quietly to myself.

"Everyone knows I'm in over my head, over my head." I sung quietly before shutting the water off, watching the remaining suds and water suck down the drain.

I dried off quickly, and put on my favorite pajamas. I blow dried my hair on the low setting, so it would remain mainly quiet.

I filled my head over, and piled my mostly dry hair into a messy bun. I ran down the stairs, and quickly made a cup of raspberry tea. I sipped it when it was cooled off, and quickly gulped it down before I padded into the room, closing the door.

I settled myself in bed, and grabbed my laptop. I opened it up, and blinded myself with light. I turned the brightness setting down, and decided to scroll through twitter.

When nothing interested me, I loaded YouTube, grabbing my earbuds from under my pillow.

I searched the home screen, and my eyes were glued on one popular video.

"One Direction- Story Of My Life"

I chewed on my bottom lip, what could it hurt?

I clicked on it, and it started with beautiful music and a piece of paper being dropped into a liquid which looked like a photographer would use. My heart panged in my chest when Louis came into view.

The boy I recognized as Harry began singing, and it didn't exactly surprise me how his attractive voice is.

I chewed on my nails as the boys sung.

I tried to keep my eyes away from Louis and focused on Harry's attractive figure instead.

I laughed a bit at some of the images flashed on the screen.

I drew in a sharp breath and paused te video when I heard Louis' voice fill my eardrums. My heart throbbed loudly in my chest, and I hit play.

I traced the screen with my index finger, and then he was gone, and Harry was there. I relaxed a bit, and continued watching. I smiled a bit when a familiar picture came on screen, one that his mom used to keep on her mantel. I laughed at how close they got his house.

As Harry sung the ending note, I closed the laptop. The last time I let myself do that was when their first hit came out, What Makes You Beautiful. I sunk down into the bed.

Maybe it was good he left me to fulfill his dreams, would he be where he is now if he were to have me and his daughter with him? Would we have gotten married the first chance we had gotten?

I let these questions parade through my mind as I watched the beautiful little girl I loved so much sleep, she looked just like me and my mother, besides her green eyes and brown hair.

"Thank you, Louis." I whispered, swiping hair from her forehead.

I fell asleep, thinking of all the good times Louis and I shared, and all of the things we could've been.

But one question still haunted me.

Was it a good thing he left me?
