Alexis continues to run, before fading off into the darkness and my eyes fail to find her. It's rainy, dark, and to be honest with myself this wasn't the friendliest of neighbourhoods. My thoughts only made me even more worried and more determained to find her. I still don't understand what Mai was going on about, or why she did that, but all I know is that I have to get her back.
After an hour of constant searching, there was still no sign of her. I even looked in the lake, but she's not stupid to hide in a place she knows I always go to. I kick the rock infront of me in anger before yelling, my sound echoing through the alleys, making cats get out of the rubbish bins and run off.
I get to her house and knock the door violently before Megan opens it, rubbing her eyes.
''Yes?'' She asks, annoyance clear in her voice.
''Has Alexis come home yet?''
''No. Wait, I thought she was with you?'' Oh great.
''Long story.'' I snap. It wasn't really, It was as simple as that.
''Well, um, how are you going to find her? Where is she? Where is my sister?'' Megan says, one question after the other thrown at me.
''I don't know! I'm trying, I'm trying to find her.'' I tug at my soaking wet hair.
''Well, should I come?'' Her sleepy voice asks.
''No, It's okay, don't worry. Go back to sleep.'' I assure her. Her sister is currently somewhere in this city at night, she probably won't sleep. She doesn't complain and just nods, closing the door.
I run to the house before busting the door open.
''Ross! Ross!'' I call. If there's anyone who knows where she is, it's probably him. He doesn't reply.
''He went out a few hours ago,'' Gemma laughs. ''trust me, I'm just as surprised as you.''
I almost laugh along at the image of Ross socialising or being at a party but now wasn't the time.
''Why do you need him?'' She asks. God, why are girls so nosey?
''Nothing, nothing!'' I rush out my words, running out the door again.
I walk down a dark road, the lamps were flickering on and off and the only noise was the faint sound of crickets and my shoes hitting the hard, wet floor.
''Let me.'' I hear someone growl, a soft voice mutterns in return. I follow the sound into a pathway.
To my horror, a bunch of boys were circled around a girl. The girl had blonde hair, she wore a ..blue dress.
Alexis.
''Let go of me!'' She stuggles to get out of his grasp.
I rush in, running at the speed of light.
''What the fuck do you think you're doing?'' I spit, grabbing his arm away. Alexis' eyes widen at my arrival but have a bit of relief.
''And you are?'' He snaps back, taking my hand away from his arm and throwing it back. His other arm still grabbed onto Alexis.
''Her boyfriend.'' I state, watching his face carefully grow into a smirk.
''Well, well, well.'' He chuckles, his crew chuckle along with him. The laughter gets louder and louder, ringing in my ears. ''You don't show her enough.'' He strokes her hair seductively.
Don't show her enough? What in the world is that supposed to mean?
''I don't want to harm you. I suggest you let go of her and move along.'' I say harshly. Alexis' hands were trying to reach me, still struggling to get out of his grasp. The gang laughs again, this time even louder.
''You? Threatining all five of us? Next joke.'' He laughs. ''You'll end up like this boy.''
Two of the boys move to the side, and Ross lays there. I gasp and watch him carefully. He had a blackeye and cuts all over his face. His sweatshirt was ripped at the side. He smiles at me weakly.
''What are you even doing here?!'' I yell. It's a Saturday night, he should be at chess club. He was too weak to even reply, he lifts his arm up a bit and it flops back down. I hear Alexis' faint whimper.
''Yeah, have you decided to leave or what?'' The boy licks his lip piercing, stepping closer to me. My curiousty soon turns into anger and I punch him exactly on the nose. He kneels down on the floor, crying in pain, whilst holding onto his nose.
The four others rush to me. Damn. I forgot they existed for a second. Alexis takes off her heel, before throwing it onto one of them, hitting them right in the stomach and they crouch down in pain, joining the cries of his fellow friend.
I grab Alexis and help Ross get up, before running as fast as we can as far away as possible. Ross was keeping us behind with his constant limping and cries. I had so many questions for both of them but decided right now wouldn't be the best time. We get to a bush and we hide in it.
''Stay here.'' I instruct both of them.
''No. Where are you going?'' Alexis says, the concern clear in her voice. I wonder if she's still mad at me from earlier.
''Just looking out for them.'' I reassure.
[Ross' P.O.V]
I lay on the floor, taking deep breathes, I forgot my inhaler and I've never ran so fast in my life.
First I was behind a party and now I'm behind a bush. I was waiting for that moment where Alexis would run out, angry with Harry, and him running after her. I knew exactly what would happen this night.
But not until this point.
She ran out. She ran out, taking the other direction. I follow her, though. I was worried, I'm not as heartless as you might think I am, although that's hard to believe. Next thing I know she was picked up by this gang.
This was the perfect opportunity to make her like me. If I defend her right now, she'll think I'm brave. Except there was one thing, I have about as much strength as a pencil. I didn't clearly think that through until the rough boy picked me up and threw me to the ground, I feel my body ache as soon as I hit the hard floor. As if that wasn't enough, he continues to punch me in the face. Alexis gasps, everytime.
''D-don't touch h-her.'' I say weakly.
''We don't take orders from losers.'' He says and they all burst into laughter. I don't find the humour in this.
I hear Harry's voice and I feel a rush of relief. In no time, he has two of them lying on the ground, with the other two trying to help them, and us running out. He's probably thinking what the hell i'm doing here but if I can get a grade A in my English essay, I can surely come up with an excuse.
We finally get home from a walk of shame and pain.
''Are you still angry..with me?'' Harry asks Alexis, his voice begging for forgiveness.
''Harry, thank you for what you did. I don't know. I need time to think.'' She rejects him. Yes, I've done it. Harry sighs in defeat.
''Okay, whatever you think is right.''
''W-what happened?'' I try to act clueless before he stops and turns.
''Not until you tell me what you were doing there.''
