I chat away with Ross as we continue to do our work and Mai walks past, smiling at him. Her smile fades as she meets my eyes. It's funny how people you might think you can be friends with for a life time, end up decieving you.

''Ross, can I ask you a question?'' I pause, resting my pen on my lip.

''You already have.'' He smartly remarks, proud of himself. ''But in all seriousness, yeah.''

''Well.'' I gulp. ''Why are you friends with Mai? I mean, no offense, but you've seen what she's done to me.''

I sounded so selfish. Mai might be one of the only friends he's made at this school and im questioning it, but I was so curious as to why he was so close with her.

Ross smiles to himself a bit, before snapping back into reality.

''What's wrong with making friends?'' He answers my question with a question. Ross was suddenly getting defensive.

''N-no, I'm not saying anything is wrong I-''

''Just because she doesn't get along with you, doesn't mean she doesn't with me.'' He simply says and looks back at the text book, continuing to right.

''You won't believe what she did.'' I try to laugh a bit to lighten up the mood. No reply for him, so I decide to answer myself. ''She tried to make a move on Harry, again!''

He snaps his head back at me. ''She what?''

[Ross' P.O.V]

''She tried to make a move on Harry, again!'' She giggles through her words.

''She what?'' I ask in disbelief. I can't believe it, she knows.

''I know!'' She almost yells, thinking that I was surprised by Mai's action.

''No, wait, when was this?''

''Like last week, she went over to Harry's. The nerve.'' Alexis shakes her head, a playful smile on her face. Why was she happy about this? Harry's obviously comforted her. He's obviously talked her out of this. She's obviously forgiven him.

''How do you know?'' I keep bombarding her with questions.

''Harry told me.'' She casually says. ''He was saying all these things to her but he accidentally called me so I thought he was saying them to me and it was just, so, so confusing!'' She says the words quickly, rambling on and on. How does Harry put up with this all the time?

''That's such a weird coincidence.'' I laugh a fake, bitter laugh. I hope it doesn't sound as fake as I felt it was.  ''How would he accidentally call you in that exact same moment?''

Her smile slowly fades. ''That's a good point, actually.''

''Maybe he meant those words but regretted them because he feels so lonely.'' I was slowly adding fuel to the fire that Harry had taken out.

''Oh, I hadn't thought of it that way.''

''Probably not, just a thought.'' I shrug. I'm making this flow so well. She doesn't know that my words are going to make her overthink the whole situation.

''Yeah.'' She bites on her lip, something she always does when she's anxious.

''No way.'' Mai widens her big brown eyes. ''Harry told her?''

''Yep. We didn't think that through, did we?'' I sctratch the back of my head. ''The good news, is that I've got it all under control.''

''How can this possibly be under control?'' Mai's words were harshly toned yet her voice was soft.

''I told her that it couldn't possibly be a coincidence,'' I smile. ''but I shrugged it off and acted like I was messing around.''

''She's going to keep thinking about that.'' Mai reads my mind, returning a smile. ''They'll argue again, in no time.''

''We never talk about eachother.'' I blurt out and Mai glances over to me.

''What do you mean?''

''I meant, er,'' Why was I getting nervous? ''we never usually have normal conversations but about this plan.''

''Yeah, that's true. What do you want to be when you grow up?'' She replies something I didn't expect. I thought she'd snap at me or 'stranger-zone' me, as friend-zone was foreign to me.

''I want to be forensic scientist.''

''I see someone's been watching too much CSI?'' She raises her eyebrows, bursting into laughter. Her laugh was actually somewhat nice to hear.

''Yeah, yeah.'' I smile. ''What about you?''

She sips on her hot chocolate, looking up in thought. Mai finally comes to an idea and speaks.

''I'm 16 and I don't know what I'm doing with my life.'' Her eyes move from side to side. I laugh just as hard as she did at my reply. She narrows her eyes at me but soon joins me.

I liked this. We weren't plotting some evil twist, it was just geniune conversations. I guess I've realised that I'm carrying on this plan thing more of to have a friend than to revenge Harry. This is a part of me I never though I'd discover.

''So, are you doing this to get back at Harry or do you still have feelings for Alexis?'' She asks. We're back to them, again.

I don't know, actually. I'm not entirely sure.

''I've gotten so into these plans I've forgotten why I'm doing this.'' I honestly answer.

Mai nods her head in understandment.

''Yeah, I use the 'heartbreak' as an excuse, but their relationship annoys me. I'm the third wheel on the lunch table everyday.'' She shakes her head.

''You can just make new friends, you know.'' I blankly state. That's what cool people do, don't they? They make friends just as simple as that.

''Nobody wants to.'' Mai lowers her eyes a bit. ''Like Alexis is the only person who doesn't know about what I've done before, so that's why she talks to me.''

''Do you mind telling me?''

''No.'' She sighs. ''I sort of have this reputation going on about me cheating on that guy in physics, Zayn.''

''Well, did you?'' I was curious to know. No wonder Harry was already aware of her behaviour.

''No. I'm just friendly, and people take it the wrong way.'' Mai looks back at me. ''Almost every girl talks behind my back now, they tell me how letting go of Zayn was 'such a waste'.''

''Oh. It's..alright.'' I really didn't know how to comfort people. I end up awkwardly stroking their shoulders or something.

''No, no it' fine. I should get going now anyway.'' She smiles reassuringly, her dimple on her left cheek appearing. Although she was smiling, I could still tell she was upset. I'm sure what happened with Harry didn't really help her situation right now.

''Bye.'' I wave, watching her walk away.
