Chapter 24

[Ross' P.O.V]

I hear violent knocking on the door and it's getting on my nerves. Probably Gemma, impatient Gemma waiting in the cold. 

''I'll get it!'' I hear Harry shout from downstairs. ''Okay, okay im coming.''

I stand on the stairs, leaning my head in, curious of who it is. 

''I don't want to talk to you.'' Mai barks. ''I'm here for Ross.''

''Listen I'm so-'' Harry fidgets around.

''I'm here for Ross.'' She repeats herself. 

''Fine, Harry, leave.'' I dismiss him, coming over to her. She pulls me outside, closing the door behind.

''You lied to me!'' All her built up anger is suddenly unleashed.

''Hold on, hold on. I didn't lie about anything.''

''Sure.'' She laughs a loud, sarcastic laugh. ''Oh 'Harry likes you'.''  She mocks, using her fingers to do air quotations. 

''Well, I don't know. He told me.'' 

''Really? Should I call him over right now and ask?'' She threatens. I suddenly panicked, not knowing what to say.

''Fine. I'll tell you.'' I give in.

''Make it quick, it's like  zero degrees out here.'' Mai crosses her arms together, burrying her neck into the big, fluffy scarf. 

''Basically. W-ell, how do I put this.'' I wasn't really helping with the 'quick' thing. But I can't help it. What the hell am I supposed to say? Oh I got jealous of my brother because he seems to get every girl he lays eyes on and the only thing I seem to get close to is books. 

''I got jealous of Harry. I liked Alexis, and, I just hated how she never liked back.'' I try to sound as innocent as possible.

''So you use me?'' Her eyes become teary again and she looks around, biting her lip in attempt not to cry. 

''No, it's not like that! I just thought that, Harry would fall for a stunning girl like you.'' My words make her slightly blush but she's still fuming with anger.

''You thought, Ross. You thought and it's left me heart broken, and now I probably won't be friends with Alexis ever again.'' Her words cause guilt to roam around my body.

''I was thinking.'' I start. ''Since Harry broke your heart, you could be in on my plans?''

Mai's frustrated eyes look back at me in disbelief.

''But wouldn't-''

''Sh. It's not about them now. It's about us. We've had our heartbreak, now it's time for them.'' I reassure her. 

''That's actually true.'' She finally makes eye contact with me. 

''Exactly. But you don't tell anyone, not even your parents.'' I warn.

''So? What are we doing now?'' 

[Harry's P.O.V]

She pulls Ross outside and slams the door right in my face. It makes no sense, she should be the one begging for my forgiveness. She kissed me right in front of my own girlfriend. 

I just feel like kick opening that damn door and yelling in her face but that somehow seems innappropriate. I don't see why she has to talk to Ross, though. She mentioned him earlier and I have a feeling that she wasn't just 'blaming him'. He's in on something. 

I have to get ready anyway. I promised I'd take Alexis out tonight as an apology. I lazily get up and change.

''Ooh, where are you going?'' Ross walks in.

''Somewhere with Alexis.''

''Oh. Can you tell me where that 'somewhere' is?'' He wiggles his eyebrows up and down.

''You're nosey. No.'' I snap.

''Alright. Can you tell me what plans you make..next time then?'' 

''Why the hell do you want to know about plans that I've not even thought about?'' 

''Oh. Nevermind, nevermind.'' He suddenly panicks, running his hand through his neatly combed back hair. ''Just curious.''

''You're such a baby!'' Alexis laughs and playfully hits my shoulder, chewing on her popcorn.

''Im sorry but how can you not tear up when a dog dies in a film?'' I laugh. 

''I like to reassure myself it's just a film. Like come on Alexis, who's filming it? A camera-man. Exactly, because it's a film.'' 

''Dork.'' 

''Baby.''

We watch the film in silence before she turns at me, smiling. 

''What?'' I ask, cluelessly. 

''You're staring at me.'' This always happens and I can't help it. She's just so effortlessley beautiful. 

''It's creepy.'' I shyly say. 

''It's romantic.'' She smiles, turning back to the TV. Oh, she thinks I'm romantic and she hasn't even seen anything yet. 

''Mai came over today.'' I say, killing the mood. 

''Oh. Well, what did she want? That backstabber. She tried smiling at me today! I was like hell no-'' She stops herself. ''I'm rambling on again.'' 

''It's cute.'' I smile. ''Anyway, she didn't talk to me. She was shouting in my face.'' 

''How dare she-''

''She talked to Ross. I have no idea what she said to him, but there's something fishy about this.''

''Again! With the fish!'' Alexis tries to make humour out of the serious situation.

''No, I'm really concerned. You should be, too. They've both done something to annoy us.''

''True.'' She sighs. ''People just can't accept a happy couple can they?''

''Not at all.''
