When I get home later on, I climb the stairs emotionlessly and sink right into my comfortable bed. My phone doesn't beep with any texts from Matt or Peyton and I can't help but feel horrible. Have I just lost all my friends here in Texas? Things were going so smoothly besides the Jamie thing...
I slip my hands into my pocket and grab the little folded piece of paper. I stare at Eliza's delicate handwriting for a while, and decide to text her. She was the sweetest person I had met so far in Texas, and without her I had nobody.
Hey Eliza! It's Summer! -S
I received a reply a moment later and my heart jumped.
Hey Summy! I was thinking... Maybe we could meet at the Carnival on Sunday? -Liza <3
I can't believe she just asked me to go to the Carnival with her! This girl was seriously the sweetest. I texted back and literally started jumping up and down. My mom knocked on the door and barged into my room.
"Summer! What are you doing?" My mom said, laughing. I just giggled with her and said,
"I made a new friend."
Mom smiled, "Is this friend... A boy?"
I laughed and told her all about my fight with Peyton and Jamie and then how I had met Eliza at Starbucks too. Mom was happy that I had another friend, but said that she felt bad about my fight with Peyton.

On Sunday morning, I woke up before my alarm and went to go get dressed. It was supposed to be nice and warm out today, so I selected a pair of denim shorts and a ruffly tank top. Eliza was supposed to pick me up in about an hour, but I wanted to be ready a little before then.
I turned on my wand and took out my makeup bag from under the sink. I didn't want any of my makeup to run, so I put on waterproof mascara and eyeliner and skipped eye shadow all together. I couldn't resist my favorite pink gloss even if it wouldn't last, so I put some on anyways. It was scented strawberry, and even tasted like them so I was kind of in love with it.
About fifteen minutes later, my wand was nice and hot. I took a piece of hair about an inch thick and wrapped it around the wand. Then I held it there for a few seconds and let go. Beautiful, corkscrew curls framed my face, and it took me about ten more minutes to do the rest of my head.
When I was finished curling my hair, I took a pink hair bow and secured it at the top of my hair. I was pretty sure I looked perfect, and would definitely make a good impression on Eliza. Last but not least, I spritzed a little perfume on the back of my wrist and headed downstairs.
I grabbed a muffin from the basket on the table and munched on it for a few minutes.
Ding dong.
