Matt was waiting in our usual corner of the mat when I walked into the gym. He waved me over and immediately gave me a huge hug.

"Your bandages are off!" He yelled, twirling me in the air. I laughed and lightly kissed his lips.

"Ready to stunt babe?" I asked, taking his hand in mine. He nodded and we skipped over to the center of the mat. Coach came into the gym followed by a couple more people who were hosting the clinic and some judges.

The judges sat down at a fold-up table with each a sheet of paper and a pencil. Scorecards were also stacked in a neat pile, the glistening "10" shown on the top. I hoped with all my might that I would get that ten. I hoped my stunt group could win the big prize that was always rewarded.

"Welcome everyone! Let's get started!" A hostess said, waving us into our places.

"My name is Erin. When I say a stunt and the counts, you do it. Got it?" We nodded and she glanced down at her cellphone.

"Alright first stunt. Single up to prep. Bow and arrow, cradle down. We're starting easy."

Matt, the other base, the back spot and I walked to our usual place and waited for the counts.

"A five-six-seven-eight."

We did our single up effortlessly and I pulled a tilted bow and arrow that I held for a whole count of eight. Then when she called "two" we dipped and cradled down. Check.

The judges held up their scores for us: 10, 10, 10! I looked at Matt and slapped his a high five.

Just then I noticed Peyton's stunt group come collapsing down and I freaked out. Peyton got up quickly and brushed herself off. She tried to explain the mishap but the judges still gave her fours and fives.

I didn't see Eliza anywhere, but then remembered that she wouldn't be at the gym till our Tuesday practice of next week. Erin called out the next stunt and we got ready.

"Five-six-seven-eight!"

Toe touch basket. Reload to two-legged extension, double down. Simple. My toe touch was perfect, my extension didn't bobble, and I hit my double down with ease. Once again Peyton's stunt group bobbled and fell.

We scored a 10, 9, 10.

On to the next stunt.
